According to NYP, the current salary of the striking nurses averages $160K. Not exactly "get rich" money in NYC, but a decent living wage (particularly if a spouse is also working). If the Northwell approach is taken (5% annual wage increases over 3 years), that goes to about $185K.

I have no way of knowing if this is accurate reporting. But if it is, then its pretty hard for me to whip up much sympathy for them.

You really need to let it go.
If you say you hate the state of politics in this nation and you don't get involved in it, you obviously don't hate the state of politics in this nation.

They want to do less work and get paid more. Thats it.

The drama about patients and profits and everything else is all just propaganda. And they are absolutely willing to hold patient care hostage to try to get a bigger paycheck.

Nurse union leaders are some of the most vile people on the planet.

And teachers unions. And public employee unions. ****, any union.

Unions are for life-slackers, lazy, and weak-minded people.

...waiting for a union defender to pipe in.

What do you suggest. Calling Safe Harbor doesn't turn out well, I don't care what the rules or the hospital claims.

Very succinct and accurate description in my view.

Wonder how many of these nurses voted for Mamdani who will raise their taxes? I'm sure they are part of the "rich" he intends to soak.

That is an insane salary in 90% of the country for nursing. Again, the problem is cost of living in certain places, not the salaries. Nobody ever wants to do anything about that. Just demanding higher wages just increases the cost of living again in a vicious spiraling cycle.

I want to also say how PROUD I am about the millions of Texas nurses who have rejected the union BS for the most part, and have done so for generations.

There are far better ways for nurses to advocate for nurses and patient care issues than to hand power over to the types of personalities and values that come via unions. By and large we have done a great job actually prioritizing the patient care in this state.

There are nurses in Austin actively unionizing as we speak.

Nah. They should mocked in perpetuity for their vain self aggrandizing behavior.
