The UIL releases visual maps of the districts.

For the most part it makes sense.

Imagine being in Del Rio district and reading about people crying about having to drive from Arlington to Aledo.

I grew up in Lancaster, we were 3A then. For two years we were in a district that included: Waco LaVega, Waco Connally and Waco Midway. It was around 80 - 100 miles each way.

Thanks for posting a link to the maps.

Looking at the Football 6A map one possible change to me for the metroplex districts would have been to put Coppell into District 5 instead of 7. Jesuit from 6 into 7 to take Coppell's spot, and then Frisco Wakeland from 5 to 6 to take Jesuit's spot. Jesuit being with all the McKinney and Prosper schools just seems like a beating with the traffic.

I saw my alma mater along with the other 4 6A schools in Arlington got put with freaking Aledo, Weatherford, and Granbury who all moved up to 6A.

This has to be the most ridiculous redistricting at the top classification I have seen yet. And there are several glaring stupidities alone in the 6A classification without me having looked at 5A and the rest.

It's time to put the legislature in charge of UIL redistricting now.

Granbury and Weatherford have been 6A for years. Only Aledo moved up.

I stand corrected on that. My apologies.

Geographic stupidity is still the main point.

Boswell, Northwest schools, and Carroll should have been their district. Not Arlington.

Got a buddy coaching in AISD. He said they were fortunate to have sensible districts for 4 years with the GP schools. But the chain of good luck is apparently over.

Bearkats will dominate that district.

You were correct on gandbury

Certain school districts were formed to keep the money at home. With that, demand for the area has surged from home buyers. Hence the ballooning enrollment. More kids, more competitive sports. Can't fault people for not wanting to support 10 other high schools with their tax dollars. It's not coincidence that these same school districts tend to score higher academically. At some point, a neighborhood/community has to support itself and stop relying on their neighbors to do it for them. For the complainers, invest your own money in your communities. Enough with the handouts at others' expense. There always have been the haves and have nots and generally it comes down to discipline and work ethic. That is we're opportunity is born.
