Interestingly it fills from one point in the very center. They started filling yesterday or Wednesday and expect it to be full early next week. They actually continued final work on the edges after they started putting in the water.

The pool is dirty. It doesn't stay clean because the pool like Washington is built on a swamp. Pipes connecting water in the pool to water treatment break. Add in environmental poop from birds.

Right now and for the 250 it's beautiful. I'm sure that'll change with the next Democrat president.

It's currently green, supposedly from residual algae in the pipes. The hope is that it clears up with the filtration system.

In certain situations, the government can direct a known contractor to complete a job. I was raised around a structural steel fabrication company. When a tornado hit Kelly AFB in San Antonio, Guyco, Inc. out of Lampasas was awarded an emergency contract to fix the damaged hangers. Guyco was owned at the time by an Aggie - Bill Crawford '54. They were known for decades for delivering on time at military bases all over. Bill and my grandfather '51 were very close friends having met each other in South Texas as young men.

We did lots of jobs for Guyco as a result. Most were by bid however sometimes they were short notice / short fuse projects that were awarded outside of the traditional (slow) government process. Glad the reflecting pool is fixed in time for the 250th!
