The reality is that a jury of 12 is almost always really a jury of 1 to 3 people that have the strongest opinion on the situation, and 9 to 11 people that will do whatever within reason in order to go home.

Don't point guns at people if you aren't willing to die for whatever you are doing that for. The end.

That's not how self-defense works. Otherwise, it would be legal to shoot a prisoner (that say raped your wife, etc) in transport? No?

Self-defense is not about if the person deserves that punishment from you.

That's also legal in Texas. An illegal was beat to death by a father for this very thing. A gun would have been more efficient, but he still got the job done.

Defense theory: older man Chow never chased Cyrus. He only left the store to protect his son. He continued after his son to protect his son if needed.

Younger man Chow informed his Dad that Cyrus had a gun pointing at him. Clearly self-defense if you believe the order of events put on by the defense.

And to the ying yang shirt, bad eye brow chick, yes- it is ok to shoot 3 different people for robbing and assaulting the store owner. Please blame the ferals and their feral culture and not the store owner victim.

If I was a sheep farmer and lived in an area where wild coyotes often attacked the sheep, I would expect over the years to need to shoot more than one coyote.

No one is saying that this particular criminal was the only criminal in the area. Quite the opposite.

Having practiced in Richland County I'm surprised the jury wasn't at least hung. 5 of the jurors were black (including the foreperson). Richland County's racial makeup is also interesting - a plurality is black.

SC is a bit different from many other jurisdictions though - the black community still tends to police itself and criminals of all races tend to go away for long periods of time when found guilty (I spent 2 years sentencing criminals while clerking for a trial judge).

Cyrus probably stole the gun, too. Good riddance
