Did the old man and his son not know how to use E-Bay? They agreed to give up 35% of the proceeds for a consignment deal. That seems like a bad plan. They probably could have set up a booth at Comic-Cons for a few thousand bucks and unload the whole lot quickly.
Selling that much stuff on eBay takes a lot of time and work. eBay takes a good chunk of the sale. And then you have shipping costs.

I've seen this on YouTube a few times.
Sounds like a miss communication that turned ugly.
The franchisee sold to a new owner and left the country. Did they identify in the sales docs what was consigned vs owned?
New owner may have thought they got the deal of a lifetime then learned of the consigned inventory or knew of it, that will be the big question.
Bricks and figs keeps getting trashed in the YouTube videos I saw but unless they purchased the store from the franchisee it wouldn't be on them. Unless they wrote in their franchisee docs steal consigned inventory for major profit which seems unlikely

I must have missed it. Where was it proven that they could do consignment?

Did I miss why the original franchise couple got booted out?
Or was it because they mentioned wanting to move out of the country so BAM just said BYE and got someone else in there?

We just know it started with them wanting to sell the franchise so they could move out of the country. I get the feeling there were previous interactions between them and BAM corporate we will never know about.
Woah Buddy! Insane LEGO Corruption!

The American Fork Police Department just "accidentally" released 50gb of unredacted Body Cam footage reguarding Reckless Ben and Bricks and Minifigs, but deleted it to late before the internet grabbed them.

True. A piece of art tha consisted of a bare panel with a banana duct taped to it sold for over $6MM at a Sotheby's auction.

Now BAM will have to sue AFPD for their blunder.
Everyone involved is shady in some way, BAM, AFPD, Reckless Ben, and the original owners

This is about where I'm at. I'm seeing this all over my YouTube feed, but it's a rabbit hole I don't think I need to go down. I think the old man with the $200k Lego collection is probably getting screwed, but maybe his family could have found a better social media outlet to address their grievances.

To Ben's credit the gofundme he set up for them is over 300K now. He plans on making them whole. Keep an eye out for that and see if it happens. I have seen him talking about maybe buying the legos from them so that they can get out of the whole ordeal with the money they would have gotten from the consignment.

Popcorn'd for later viewing. This could become a Netflix series in the mold of Breaking Bad or the followup series with the lawyer :-)

It was just part of the collection. The sets he was raffling off he had to own in order to do the raffle
