Even though it's not a federal election, after the complete crapshow in the LA mayoral race, nobody can say that there isn't cheating going on. What they can do in LA, they can do in federal races throughout California.

If this is accurate, Repbulicans ought to go into session immediately and get this thing approved. Don't give the opposition time to react, just get it passed. It is the most important piece of legislation of the session, and maybe in the past 50 years.

We probably can't save LA this election cycle, but if the current situation there serves to get the SAVE act passed that's a good trade.

If the SAVE ACT passes into law, the riots across the country will make the Summer of Love Riots in 2020/21 will look like a County Fair Carousel.



So, let's get it passed post haste, start enforcing the LAWS around riots, and let nature take its course.

I read that Sen. Blackburn is also pushing to fire the parliamentarian (or rather to end her role by putting the position subject to term limits), which could be a positive impetus. Really, Thune should threaten to change the rules on the filibuster unless Dems just stop using it for this specific bill. I have zero good things to say about John Thune.

The only real objection to passing this is that it will prevent fraud.

The Lee version did not have the transgender athlete and ban on mutualizing of kids that Trump has insisted being included in the Bill.

Collins has consistently "said" she supports passing the save America act passed by the house. But She has voted against it previously when it is a budgetary add-on item. She has also said she is not going to vote to in the filibuster.

So at the end of the day, Collins can say she supports the save America act all she wants. But until she at least tries to pass it as a budgetary item (which I don't think is proper and wouldn't work) or decides to end the filibuster, it doesn't matter how much Lip service she gives to supporting the clean Bill. It's never going to pass, which she knows.

when she voted against it, the bill was offered in budget reconciliation. LINK she always said it needs to be its own bill.

but she knows that in order for it to ever actually pass, the filibuster will need to be ended. which she will never vote to do.

so its a way for her to claim she is for it without ever actually doing anything to get it passed

Of course she's playing politics but I don't understand why the child mutilation legislation needs to be attached to this. She's not really being inconsistent in this vote, imho. Graham attempting to attach that amendment was the silly posturing everyone knew would fail (and Trump mouthing off about it is no shocker).

She's especially not going to do it now. She has to appeal to the moderate dems in that cesspool of a state or she can't win.
