Has anyone seen anything about Shemar holding out? Apparently, the Bengals attempted to put language in his contract that could void future guarantees under his rookie deal...what is the point of non-guaranteed "guarantees"? lol

According to what I have read and heard, the language is completely abnormal and inconsistent with how first round rookie contracts are typically written. A lot of people online online are ripping the Bengals for the way they are treating him...they seem to be a cheap organization, off the top of my head, I can think of contract disputes with Trey Hendrickson, Ja'Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins.

weeks ago it was reported that they offered him less than the same 2024 draft slot

bengals be trying to make up for that terrible tee higgins contract

I don't think its a numbers issue but rather some sort of verbage regarding what happens if he gets injured in practice that was present in previous rookie contracts but they took it out on his.

I was about to throw some shade at Ohio football fans because of Cleveland and Cincy... but at least they got Ohio State.

The people here root for the Aggies and watch the Cowboys and/or Texans on Sunday.

They're also in a contract stalemate with Trey Hendrickson who said he's not going to play without a new deal. Burrow, Chase, and Higgins got paid but not their elite DE.

Probably, in their mind. But the best way to hedge your bet is to NOT draft a big gamble payer #17 overall! The rookie salaries capped with very little variance. If you pick at #17 you are gonna pay #17 money and everybody knows this going into it.

Shemar is deserving of #17 money because that's where he was drafted... pay the man!

The Bengals want to add a term that "default" by Stewart voids all guaranteed money.

So if he breaks his leg skiing this week, he loses 4 years of guaranteed money, rather than just from the year which it occurred.

I wouldn't agree to it either.

If that's true, he will most likely have the NFLPA in his corner assisting any way they can. There is no way in HELL that anybody in the player union wants to see that sorta verbiage become the norm in player contracts. No way!

it is true.

i agree no one in the NFLPA wants that to become the norm, but it is something that teams and players are allowed to agree to under the CBA.
