This seems like a good deal if you want to pick up Office for cheap and not deal with 365.

Anyone actually tried this? I'm certainly tired of paying $99 a year for this.

You can do this on groupon for like $15-$20 all the time depending on the coupon running. Someone posted it a while back. I have used it multiple times and its worked perfectly. This is also a binding license to your MS account and uses the MS installers from the active office webpage.

Following, as I'm also in the market for a one-time license for Office software without having to go the route of the annual Microsoft 360.

Saw Office Home and Student 2021 at Best Buy, but for $150.

Also curious about these Groupon deals or other places that are selling these for less than $30.

I did this a few years ago through Mashable and it was flawless. I'd trust Woot.

I went ahead and grabbed one for myself and my dad. I have a current year subscription (not sure when it expires). I see the code has to be redeemed within 30 days. Anybody have any thoughts on how to activate the code while my other subscription is current? Obviously I'll let that one expire and not renew it when the time comes.

Nothing stops you from uninstalling the subscription version now and installing the perma version immediately.

Crazy, almost worth it compared to the KMS solution I've been using for however many years now.

I buy all of my stuff online. 5 Windows 11 Pro licenses, 5 office pro 2021, I think they were 5-10 bucks each. Only had one stop working and the vendor just reissued a new key and it was fine. Easy peasy.

I wish there were deals like this to be had on Adobe Acrobat. Office is a bargain compared to Adobe's overpriced software.

Adobe is always a bargain out here on the high seas. Lol

Check out https://www.pdfill.com/, been using it for 10+ years.

Can Edit PDFs, add callouts, form fields, signatures, jpgs, white stuff out, Highlight, etc

Insert pages into PDF, Remove Pages from PDF
Rotate, Re-Order
Print to PDF feature (Acts like a printer, but makes PDF instead) which allows you to make ANY program that can print now can create a PDF as well.

I bought it 10+ years ago and installed it on several PCs over the years and works great..

It is $20 or $30 with free lifetime upgrades. They make a new version, you can go download and install for free.

Use it at least a few times per week.

Yep, got almost the same thing from StackSocial ($30) and used the key on 2 different PCs. I had been using the KMS activator every 6 months to keep 2010 limping along, but this was well worth the money.

I did this a couple of years ago, but not through Woot, and I guess wasn't savvy enough to find something quite this cheap. But we're adding a couple of school computers and couldn't pass this deal up. And Woot is part of Amazon, so about as reputable as it gets, IMO.

I'm ok with paying for a product, I just hate the subscription model that so many things have gone to. Heated seats, for example - ridiculous.

Glad some others were able to benefit.

I just received notice that Microsoft is increasing the subscription price of Office. That will be enough for me to stop procrastinating and purchase a perpetual license. However, the Woot offer is sold out.

Any other ideas on where to purchase Office cheaply and legally?

I purchased several of the office "lifetime" licenses on Groupon for my computers at home and they have worked just fine.

For anyone building a PC, Groupon also appears to have very good deal for Windows 11 Pro at the moment also.

Other than price, is there any difference between the Groupon offer for Microsoft Office that dubi posted previously found here costing $39.90:

Office 2024 Professional Plus Lifetime Use for Windows PC - From $39.90 - Dayton | Groupon

and this one for $26?

Up To 83% Off on Office Home & Business 2024 | Groupon Goods

They look the same to me but as an old and a lay person, I'm concerned that I may be missing something.

i think the "pro" will give you TEAMS and more stuff. Worth it to me for a few dollars.

Ah, I missed that. Thanks again! I don't care what your friends say, you're the best!

ETA: They're both Pro, aren't they?

There are 3 products offered at the link, only two of which are "Home and Business" (one for PC and the other for Mac). The top product is Prof. Plus for $26.

The main differences between Office 365 ProPlus (now called Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise) and Office Home & Business come down to licensing, features, and who they're intended for. Here's a clear comparison:

Office 365 ProPlus (Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise)

Target Audience:
Large organizations, businesses, schools, and enterprises.

Type:
Subscription-based (typically part of Microsoft 365 enterprise plans like E3 or E5).

Key Features:
Always up-to-date versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Publisher (PC only), and Access (PC only).
Can be installed on up to 5 devices per user (PC, Mac, tablets, phones).
Includes enterprise-level features (e.g., shared activation, Group Policy support, integration with Microsoft Endpoint Manager).
Cloud-connected: integrates tightly with Microsoft 365 services like SharePoint, Exchange Online, Teams.
No perpetual license you lose access if you stop subscribing.
Requires Azure Active Directory for user management and activation in most setups.

Office Home & Business

Target Audience:
Individuals, families, small businesses.

Type:
One-time purchase (perpetual license).

Key Features:
Includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote.
Single device license one PC or Mac.
No access to enterprise features or online services like Teams, Exchange, or SharePoint.
No ongoing updates beyond security patches (you get the features it ships with).
Good for users who don't want a subscription and only need the core apps.

Quick Summary Table

Feature Office 365 ProPlus / Microsoft 365 Apps Office Home & Business

Always look on StackSocial first!

https://www.stacksocial.com/

They often have combos that are near impossible to beat. I got Windows 11 Pro & Office 2021 Pro (lifetime license) for $45.

I've never had an issue activating a product.
