I have gamepass and started playing the latest Forza. It's definitely fun - but it made me think about my GT collection that ends at GT6.

I read GT7 started pissing community off with in game purchases for credits to get cars otherwise you'd spend forever having to stockpile money. Honestly, I recall GT1-2 was slow like that.

Anywho, curious if anyone has thoughts about GT7. People really rag on FM gfx and car physics vs GT7, but it seemed reasonable to me.

I'm only on iRacing, but watching LMU struggle with funding and running out of runway, I'm not surprised GT7 is going micro transactions. Racing games are getting too expensive to make and are following the path of MMORPGs. The average consumer is no longer willing to pay for the costs of development.

I heard a rumor that EA Games will be dropping F1 due to costs. So, if you like GT7's feel, it's probably worth going in even with the micro transactions.

Licensing fees and the never ending need for programmers to update and improve the feel of driving. With the arms race of racing wheels, force feedback, and the invention of Direct Drive, consumers are demanding ever greater realism. Both in the design of accurate tracks and cars.

Then, if either track or car changes, the game devs need to update the track and car based on what they're being told by real life drivers and testers. How does a former F2 driver describe the feel of different corner exit differentials to a game developer?

The result of all that is a massive headache and a massive bill that is ever growing. To fund it, it's either subscription model, micro transactions model, or bump up the single sale price to $80, which is what EA did for F1 25.

I refuse to buy anymore Forza games until they support VR. Absolutely ridiculous in 2025!

Oh ya. And there's demand for VR in most racing games now. Add that to the list of development demands.
