Not sure where to post this but thought I'd start here since it's a software question.

Is there anyone in project management, maybe even construction management that knows of a software system that could track the ordering, building, and assembly of multiple components across multiple suppliers until all the components come together as one finished product and are delivered to the customer? Each vendor would have their own secure portal to update progress on their end.

In this instance, the final product is built to a certain set of specs. We are looking for software that is customizable, but has the underlying pieces for putting together an order, then tracking the order across a set of estimated and actual dates from each vendor until final delivery.

The product we currently use was custom built for us, but the vendor is no longer going to be supporting it. Any thoughts? What industries might use something like this?

Thanks, any help is definitely appreciated.

Do you have the code or can you obtain the code of the current application?

If it was custom made for you. I would assume that you purchased the app/product and your company should own the code as well.

I would reach out to the current vendor and get the source code and verify the platform and programming language.

I would then find an alternate company that can support you with that language or consider having a new vendor convert it to a new language or web based application.

I think something like Monday or Basecamp might be able to do some of what you are asking, but if the current application supplies what you need, I would look into that first.

I would suggest a low code type software. I have used Quickbase, but there are probably cheaper alternatives out there these days.

As others suggested, get the source code for this since it was built for yall by the vendor. Have that code maintenance taken over by a new one will be the best solution. If the code language is very outdated like Cobalt and such, you can have that translated into something more modern and easy to manage like Java for a price. Long term if the solution works today, dont try to reinvent it if you can help it, modernize it.

I think you can do this with odoo. It's very scalable.
