help me out here please nerdery....never dealt with portable monitors before and it seems like HP sold me a bundle that wont work....

i have a brand new labtop that has two usb-c ports....the power cable to the labtop requires one of those usb-c ports so i have one extra....

i have two portable monitors....one of which can obviously plug in to that extra usb-c port on the labtop but if i want to use two id need a hub....the bundle i purchased from HP included a travel hub but after returning one and getting a replacement and that one not working im getting the idea that hub just won't cut it....

ive confirmed both portable monitors work...all cables work....and both usb-c ports on the labtop work....the problem is the hub....

i also purchased a 90w power cable for the hub (didn't know that was also required....thanks hp for telling me...)

so to prevent further pain and misery....what type of hub and/or power do i need to be able to charge my labtop and power two additional monitors with my labtop that has 2x usb-c hubs on it?

I think you are stating you need more power, so I would recommend something like this https://www.anker.com/products/a2683-anker-prime-charger-200w-6-ports-gan?variant=43856909074582

Not sure that will carry the video over the USB C. I might check in with B&H Photo's chat. My experience getting the right docks off amazon for usb c is spotty.

Yes, as long as your laptop, monitor, and any other accessories you have plugged into it don't exceed 100W. Pretty likely.

My Macbook Pro will pull 75W at times, but I doubt the monitor will get to 25W,

Thank you I just did a quick search. Looks like these monitors max at 7.5 watts with 6 watts being typical.

Yes, I think that will work. Just get a PD charger and cable and power it from the wall, not from your pc pd port.

This will charge your laptop and provide video to your monitors, but it won't power your monitors.

I found this that that seems like it might do it all, but the reviews seem mixed... I'm not 100% sure those people are using it correctly.

Does your laptop have thunderbolt ports, or just regular USB-C? I think you may need thunderbolt to deliver power to the monitors.

If not, you're probably stuck using separate external power for your monitors

yeah that's what i was wondering regarding them that thing not being able to power the monitor....however each portable monitor has 2 usb-c ports (1 on each side)...so is it possible to have video going into one usb-c port and power going into the other?

also....found this item just now.....seems like it would also fix the issue i'm having....the labtop in the video isn't mine but i do have an hdmi and standard usb port right next to each other like it shows here....

USB 3.0 is only going to supply 4.5W. If your monitor is drawing 6-7.5W i'm not sure that cable is going to work to power your monitor.

I can 100% confirm the usb-c ports on the LAPtop are capable of delivering power and video to each monitor via a single cable…plus the portable monitors only have usb-c ports so there's no other way of plugging them in…

Found a solution….

Here was the problem….the monitors HP sold me just plain sucked….returned them along with all the other crap I was buying from Amazon trying to fit a square peg in a round hole with those two HP monitors….

Found 2 monitors on Amazon that were only $80 each that could plug in via usb-c AND hdmi/usb….and problem solved….

Returned nearly $600 worth of equipment and fixed the issue by spending about $160….

Still curious if your laptop has thunderbolt ports. You can simplify and eliminate some of those wires if so.

Do you need a "portable" monitor? Are you moving it around or it will always sit in the same spot?
