Anyone made a clawbot?

I made one on a raspberry pi. It's on a separate network at my house with access to nothing personal. I had it up and running for two days, but it was eating Claude tokens like crazy.

I made it for the heck of it. Not really sure what to do with it. (Other than buy a drone with infrared cameras and have the clawbot patrol the property at night and exterminate any intruders.)

Curious to see what y'all use it for.

Started one up last week. Idea is to use less tokens.

1st recommendation is to not use claude despite the name, super expensive models.

Edit: Unless you are running it with Claude code, but for some reason I thought they banned it for that use.

Hooked one up to ChatGPT Pro through OAuth. Haven't made anything particularly useful yet, but only set it up this week and not overly motivated to refine it yet.

If it starts building useable things I might invest in a Mac with more RAM, because my expectation is local models will be progressively 6 months behind frontier models and amount of RAM will shrink. Quantity of tokens consumed is going to be more valuable than quality and speed over time.

Some ideas:

Set up some shopping bots to track prices of things you buy frequently.

Give it access to your email and have it build a package delivery calendar.

Have it build you a personal wiki on a specific topic for you. Use multiple agents to plan, do internet research, write, fact-check and foot note, etc.

Then use it to build your own RAG agents. Feed it documents and have it parse them into chunks for you.

I don't recall what type of attorney you are but once you've got the wiki thing down, have it aggregate your client data in a similar way and create custom RAG agents.

I don't recall what kind of attorney you are but if you're a trial attorney, imagine a year from now having a junior attorney at your table sitting second seat feeding live transcripts into you LLM bot running on a silent Mac Studio sitting on the table looking for inconsistencies between the evidence and every utterance of an expert or fact witness testimony.

I think it's a risk to give an agent access to anything sensitive. AI agents are inherently insecure.

Anything that accesses an LLM for guidance can (A) rely on a confidently stated hallucination to do something you don't want it to do such as deleting all of your files instead of organizing all of your files, and (B) subject itself to prompt injection attacks which will result in it willingly giving all of its data to a third party. Those two issues have not been resolved and there will be great difficulty resolving them due the nature of LLMs.

Using a clawdbot for anything healthcare or law related that could result in a data leak of client information is fraught with risk.

It could be very useful for other tasks that don't require access to private data though.

I'm running Linux Mint on an old Mac so I can play around with this. I saw that Claude is requiring extra usage to be enabled effective today if you want to use it for OpenClaw and other third-party harnesses.

When he mentioned blasting through Claude Tokens I assumed that meant he was starting to run his own local model but re-reading, it looks like he's just looking for productive things to do with his bot.

But I agree, I wouldn't put any of my wife's client data into an AI. I'm hoping she has enough income to offset to justify buying an M5 Mac Studio when the new ones roll out this summer.

For another idea, I'm doing taxes and going through Home Depot receipts trying to add up expenses for our home office deduction. It would be nice to have a bot do this for me.

Building out a MyFitnessPal nutrient tracker, recipe planner, pantry/household consumable tracker that ideally will query existing ingredient availability and create meal plans with tracking of age of goods/presumed expiration dates to limit food waste/reduce spend. End goal is to have it do 4-7 day meal plans, build shopping lists on low stock, track prices.

Have no idea if it'll be more useful than Fitness Pal, but it's been fun playing around.

If I were running my own local AI, I'd be all in on turning a clawbot loose on everything. If the AI is running in my house, I wouldn't be concerned about data leakage. Rigs that can handle models above 8B are getting pretty expensive though. Probably not worth the cost benefit compared to the $200 Anthropic plan, at least not right now
