The new Spam call?

Lately I am getting 5 to 10 calls a say that hang up when I answer on my business phone.

What gives? Don't answer with hello, so maybe that throws off an auto dialer?

Getting pretty annoying.

I get the same at work. If there is silence after I answer it gets hung up on too.
God loves you so much He'll meet you where you are. He also loves you too much to allow to stay where you are.

If a spam call gets through android spam detection, these days I don't even say hello. I pick up and if no one says a word within.3 seconds, I hang up.

From what I read a while back, they are trying to determine when you are available to answer. So, if you don't answer they know not to have their spammers call during that time because you aren't going to answer anyway.

They then send that information to the true SPAM callers and that's when you get the true SPAM calls later on. If that's true, it's pretty dang amazing you could do that and profit off of it somehow later on.

On my iPhone, iOS silences all unknown calls and asks the caller for their name and why they're calling before I even get a notification. If they hang up, I don't get notified at all.

If it's legit and they give their info then my phone notifies me and I can choose to answer.

I still get a ton of spam calls but I never realize it unless I happen to look at my phone and see a missed call notification on my phone app.

I wish this were an option for me. Unfortunately, I have to answer unknown numbers for my business.

That is insanely bad and ridiculous. Why can technology and providers for all the money we pay them not get a handle on this problem?

I don't know and I know.

But this is part of a huge issue. For us it is an annoyance.

But I know people, particularly our elderly that are or have been scammed for large amounts of money that they cannot afford to be without. I believe a lot of it goes unreported because they feel and are made to feel like they were dumb to fall for it. More needs to be done to fight it and kill those responsible when they get caught.

This response is just an informative response I wrote for spam calls in general. Why the OP is getting blank calls is likely a dumb fax machine or misconfigured AI spammer.

VoIP asterisk-based AI use a call center and voice detection.

If you answer and say something you'll hear this very distinctive "chirp" followed by a human…. The system buffers calls in a tight queue and the second it triggers rings a call center monkey human to spew its BS in the sweatshop.

You can't stop this - the number called from is spoofed more than 95% of the time.

What can you do? Ignore or do this - answer on speakerphone and IMMEDIATELY go on mute. And leave it. If it's someone you know, they'll call out… otherwise they can **** off.

With my method, eventually the reports will label you as a non-working number - to like a fax or machine and delist you. If you think you can request and get a delist, you're delusional.

If you let it go to voicemail every time - that won't help you - because it's "voice" and my earlier explanation remains valid.
Reading this forum sometimes is like people that can't speak English well trying to differentiate between a "booty call" and a "butt dial".

Samsung/Android has an option you can turn on for a "voice assistant" to take the call called "Text Call". I send unknown numbers there. If they want to respond it presents their response in text. If it is actually someone I need to talk to I can either take the call or use a canned response text to them.

Most of the time, they just hang up.

iOS has essentially the same thing. There's an option for "Ask Reason for Calling" under Phone settings, I haven't used it myself, but i'm getting to that point. 10+ spam calls a day is getting ridiculous.

I simply do not answer the phone unless I know the number. Prevents a lot of frustration.

If it's important, they will call back and leave a VM.
