Anyone an expert on BTRFS/Linux Mint? I crashed one of mine and I've run down the google rabbit hole without any luck. Before I wiped it and started over, was curious if anyone here is an expert?

I lack the expertise to get into specifics of BTRFS recovery, but be sure you are mounting the drive as read-only and take a block-level image of it if you can (then work on that).

When you say crash, you talking a physical head crash or is this an SSD?

SSD and it won't mount as RO. Crash is overly simplified; more details here.

I SSH'ed into the live USB and tried to mount as RO, no luck.

Quote:

mint@mint:~$ sudo mount -t btrfs -o ro,usebackuproot /dev/nvme0n1p2 /mnt
mount: /mnt: can't read superblock on /dev/nvme0n1p2.
dmesg(1) may have more information after failed mount system call.

and to repair

Quote:

mint@mint:~$ sudo btrfs rescue super-recover -v /dev/nvme0n1p2
All Devices:
Device: id = 1, name = /dev/nvme0n1p2

Before Recovering:
[All good supers]:
device name = /dev/nvme0n1p2
superblock bytenr = 65536

device name = /dev/nvme0n1p2
superblock bytenr = 67108864

[All bad supers]:

All supers are valid, no need to recover

There's no real data on it so not a huge loss to wipe, but it seems like its almost working but I don't have the expertise to fix it nor can I find it via the web.

Thanks
