Im working on the shotgun stuff. But yeah, unless I'm using a chrono or establishing a zero, I spend very little time shooting from the bench.

Guess I'm late to the 6.5 Grendel party. Just found this thread on Google as I'm building a lightweight 18" with the Balios receiver set that I just got in today.

Waiting on my BSF carbon fiber 18" tube. Already have a smoke composites closed carbon fiber stock and handguard.

I'm getting anxious now.

I have a 12" PSA upper on an aero precision lower. A 20" inch Shilen on a Noveske N4 and a 20" Howa mini action in an mdt chassis.

Those rigs look great Bender. Hornady 123 ELDM runs great in all of mine but I shoot a ton of Wolf steel out of my 12".

Now if my cans ever get out of jail....

I heard SanTan receivers are really good. Couldn't find those either.

With ammo being what it is these days, nothing new to report on the shooting front.

I did go ahead and mount the RMR on a Reptilia ROF90 for passive NV shooting. Need to pick a white light and get it plus the IR stuff finalized and once my can is in, my nice light gun will be finished...and over 9lbs. But that 9lbs will be capable of everything from passive short range stuff under NV to easy hits at range, and everything in between, day or night.

I'm happy with how its turned out.

So it turns out this gun wasn't done.

My next big purchase is thermal. Can't attach clip on thermal to a rail that doesnt have 1913 on top. Did some research and found an 11" Noveske NSR. About as light as the old ALG rail but with a full top pic rail.



Gun is still under 8 lbs unloaded as pictured. Thats with a LPVO, red dot, laser, light and suppressor. Its at 8 lbs 13 oz with a loaded 17 rd mag. Should still be under or close to 10 lbs even with clip on thermal.

Original intent was make the base gun lightweight so the accessories didnt turn it into a total pig. 10 lbs suppressed with white light, night vision and thermal options is pretty awesome.

Ive stubbornly finally been forced to learn there is no true single gun to do it all, but this one is probably as close as I'll ever get.

Range day today. Similar sized guns. Very different weights/cartridges/purposes.

My 18" with a Primary Arms LPVO scope (which is not light) and a can came in at 8lbs 13oz, and that was with a 3/4 full Amend 2 mag. Was kinda shocked t wasnt heavier.

What PA scope? I have an older 1-8 of theirs and was pretty surprised when I weighed it…darn close to the NX8, ~18 oz. SFP and glass isnt nearly as good but its a light booger. Its on my 16" piston upper these days.

Crap, I lied - the Grendel has a Leupold 3.5-10x40, my shorty 5.56 has the PA scope. And that one is a 1-4x. It's heavy compared to others, at least going by the tried and true "pick it up and see" test.
