This is the first of 17 pages. On the last page he says there are 891 cards, all issued prior to 1960.

These are all boxes of baseball cards (except for the Arnold Palmer golf game).

If you actually have THESE cards, then yes... you have real money.

The Coin Collector thread got thinking about the baseball cards I inherited from my dad. There are thousands upon thousands of them in boxes stored in my garage. I have no idea what to do with them. I have some in a safe in my house that my dad said were the really valuable ones.

Any ideas as to how I might unload these? I'm certain my daughter has no interest in inheriting them from me.

You need to call Tom at OPC Baseball in Caldwell. 774-573-1731 or email opcbaseball@yahoo.com
He has a large store/warehouse located in town. One of the top buyers in the country

I had boxes of baseball cards from the 60s, 70s, and early 80s - along with a bunch of comics from the same. My mom tossed them all when I was a freshman at A&M.

Watch "Jack of all Trades" on Netflix. Explains the current market situation pretty well.

What's the one-sentence explanation? Man when I was a kid I got two boxes of 97 fleer flair (I think) baseball cards for Christmas and I thought I was in heaven. I used to subscribe to Beckett magazine and I'd track my fortune each month.

Mass production.

The example given in the documentary is the Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr rookie card. Sheets of those were printed such that thousands upon thousands were in circulation. If everyone owns the card, it ain't valuable.

That is the most structurally unsound shelving unit I have seen in a while. Please put some cross bracing or something on it. I think the weight of all the cards is holding it together.

Only a fraction of what it was worth in 1987.

None of us collected Beanie Babies but it was the same kind of scheme. The only exception is baseball cards served a function in earlier times and kids were actually big fans of these players. The Beanie Baby thing was nuts.

I love this pic of the divorce where they're partitioning their collection of bean bag dolls.

Some pretty good cards in there. Some info on the 1954 Bowman Mantle card

My wife has tons of beanie babies her and her sisters collected. Unfortunately, they're still sitting in our garage.
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.

I appreciate all the help and replies. Tsalem purchased all of it.

The structure is a lot more robust than what it appears.

I'm really surprised no one commented on the Doss sticker.

In 2010, I sold all of my family beanie babies for $1 each ($3 dollars for the bears). I think I made about $100. I was ecstatic.

That being said, as far as collections goes. If any of y'all have old Magic the Gathering cards laying around. You could be sitting on a gold mine. Sets from 94-98 are worth a lot.

Couldn't find a decent later thread so figured I ttt this one.

I've had a hell of a time organizing my late 80s/early 90s collection. Still ain't worth a lick but fun memories and such.

Went on ebay and was shocked on how much I could buy cards I've always wanted for such a low price. Even that bo jackson above is on my list and can get that now for next to nothing.

Current cards market is nuts and won't be touching that at all.

I have a bunch from the mid 70's early 80's...collected the hard way.

all pretty much worthless, but I like them.

I bet they are not all worthless, depending on the condition.

Everyone who graduates HS around the early 90s knows all about useless baseball cards.

I've got a whole set of upper deck that are unopened that of course is worth nothing.

My son just got his first binder for his pokeman cards. I can totally see me pitching them when he leaves for college.

Card collecting is a fun hobby to do with kids. They think they have a few really good cards out of the thousands they accumulate and it's a valuable teaching tool for taking care of stuff and learning the concept of worth.

Really is. My son and I will go in to Target and stare at the wall of cards for him to pick out the Leaf brand or the college red white and blues because they have "two guaranteed autos dad!"

I'll grab a pack of Topps and we'll head home and open them. He gets excited when he pulls some 15u kids autograph.

We picked up boxes of cards from a poster here not long ago and went through tons of junk wax cards. That was a fun couple of weekends. Just sorting through cards and getting excited if one was over $1 haha

One of the few cards from the 90s that is worth a little bit (graded 10), and still one of my favorites:

One of the baseball announcers at last nights Auburn/ Miss St game was talking about that Bo Jackson photo as being the best wall poster of all time. Don't know how they got on that subject.
