Hey guys. So the children in Wiggle Inn with Hazel were kept safe by an individual who works night security at Camp Mystic. This guy came out to their cabin after the dam broke and kept them inside floating on mattresses until their heads hit the ceiling before the water receded.
The parents of Wiggle Inn are in search of this guy but all we've been able to gather is his name is Glenn and he works night security from 10PM to 3 AM and sometimes helps grill burgers for the girls. He is also very tall with gray hair and possibly a retired law enforcement officer.
If anyone has info and is willing to pass it along, please DM me. We want to make sure we can thank him properly for saving our children.

Some information from my wife who is directly in contact with some Mystic staff and was once office staff:
She says that the map is relatively correct. Twins I, Twins II, and Bubble Inn are the highest elevation cabins along with Giggle Box and Wiggle Inn on the portion of the campground called the "Flats." They are next to the central office intentionally, and at the same elevations, such that those buildings are the last to need evacuation.
The elevation of the aforementioned cabins, the Office, and the Rec Hall are all 30-35 feet above the normal water level. There is no precedent, even in the '87 flood, for water to come up to the level of the Office/Bubble Inn/Twins. She found from a friend that the plan was likely to keep those campers in place while lower elevation cabins successfully evacuated to the Rec Hall (as evidenced by the photo of the older campers walking in the rain towards the Rec Hall). The waters then rose far beyond what was ever planned for and there was no more time to evacuate the three youngest cabins. Allegedly Dick drove his truck through the floodwaters to try and reach them once they realized it was cresting the hill they are situated on. Then the flood wave came. Even though they are limestone structures, someone told her an entire cabin, Twins or Bubble, may have been washed away with campers inside. For that to happen, the flood waters have to have been 35+ feet above normal. A truly unprecedented situation.
There is still no official word on Dick Eastland being alive. Everyone she is in contact with is tight-lipped. She hypothesizes they are waiting to find the missing girls before drawing attention to the loss of one of the camp directors.

Long time rancher friend left yesterday morning after hearing his friends kid was missing. This is a screenshot of his recent FB post. He hunted that area for many years and knows it well. Glad to know he's there helping.
I assumed there would be a huge number of people searching both sides of the river downstream with the clear weather this morning and small helicopters working each side. Very surprised to see his post indicating more help needed now.

Last night, six members of the Texas A&M Veterinary Emergency Team, along with two Texas A&M AgriLife Disaster Assessment & Recovery agents, deployed from Bryan-College Station to Kerr County to support ongoing search-and-rescue efforts following the devastating flooding in the region.
As canine search teams including those from Texas A&M Task Forces and other regional partners begin the difficult work of locating the missing, the VET is providing essential veterinary care to the working dogs on the front lines. These elite K9 partners are critical to the mission, and our team is committed to helping them stay healthy, safe, and mission-ready.
Our hearts are with the families, loved ones, and communities affected by this tragedy. We are proud to support those working tirelessly in response.

We had a noon prayer vigil at our church for the one known deceased and his missing wife and two young sons that are members of our church and community. There just were not enough boxes of Kleenex tissues. It will continue in 30 minute shifts until something is known about the rest of the family. Will continue to pray for those still missing. Derm, I said a couple of prayers for your great niece during the service and will continue to pray for her.austinag1997 said:

It was Bug Hall that washed away. No one was in it at the time. Nut Hut roof collapse. It was also evacuated prior to roof collapse. Bubble Inn was in the process of being evacuated when the wall of water hit and everyone was washed away. The twins 1 and 2 cabins were left to fend for themselves from what I can gather and some made it out and some didn't. My daughter said some of the Twins kids were hanging in the trees when she came out of Wiggle Inn.
Wiggle Inn and Tumble Inn and possibly one other cabin (Hazel can't remember) rode out the surge in and on their cabins and all survived in those cabins.
None of this is gospel and most of it is coming from the traumatized mind of a 9 year old but this is the story I have so far.
A source who also reported the other three lost girls and does not seem to have been reporting any major misinformation has indicated that it is camper "LB" who has been identified as the fourth victim. Again, not 100% sure, but that is that source.Ducks4brkfast said:

I only read the last two pages, so please forgive me if I missed it.
I just heard the host on a car talk show out of Houston say that 27 girls from Camp Mystic are unaccounted for??? Please tell me that isn't true and he just mis-spoke.

As everyone says prayers. Please include the survivors in your prayers. They have gone through an experience that will be with them for the rest of their lives. Many will struggle with why not them? The 4th of July will never again be a celebration but a time of grief. These young ladies and their families need our prayers as well.

Kerr County Sheriff's Office posted this on Facebook:Link to that organizationQuote:
There is a shelter for the general public who needs assistance at First United Methodist Church, 321 Thompson Drive in Kerrville. At present, don't need material or volunteer donations, as we are coordinating with a strong state response. Cash donations can be made to the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country.

As a parent who picked up my Mystic child this evening after being evacuated by Blackhawk - I have no words. She just keeps saying I hugged so many of them last night before I went back up to senior hill.
I pray for miracles and the families who have lost so much. The Eastlands have raised my daughter for 9 years every summer- I could trust no family more than Tweety and Dick. Pray for the families waiting and the survivors. There is a lot to overcome for the entire Mystic family.
There was magic behind that green gate - just devastating!

Derm, I have respected all of you involvement as a fan of the Ags and your input into all the forums on Texags. I wish I had the wisdom you have provided to us over the years. My heart truly goes out to you and your family and pray there is an outcome where there is joy.
I pray for all those missing and those who are in need.

I am devastated. My daughter is 17 and has been going to Mystic since she was 8. Dick & Tweety have also raised my daughter each summer. She absolutely adores Dick Eastland and has always said he is one of the strongest Christian influences in her life. I cant emphasize that kind of praise enough from my 17yo daughter. Mystic is my daughter's favorite time of year without debate. There is no close second place. It's indeed magical and I am absolutely heartbroken for the girls that are lost, the girls that have perished, the families of those girls, the Eastland family, the hundreds or thousands of girls like my daughter and the community at large. Mystic is a place of pure innocence and I felt so safe leaving my daughter there each summer. This is crushing.
dermdoc - You're in my prayers.
