We've never met, but I mean when I say I love you and your family. I am so, so sorry for your loss. I'm sorry that it ended this way, but I find some peace knowing that your nephew and family have closure. All love, my friend. God Bless Mary Grace and may she be safe in the arms of our Lord.

I read a comment today that really resonated with me. In all this pain and incredible difficulty, just think how these girls were singing praise songs and learning more about Jesus, and then hours later were face to face with Him and in His loving arms. Hard for our human brains to really fully understand this.

And I always have it in my mind that those n Heaven wouldn't come back here even if given that chance. Though we crave them here with us, where they are is so wonderful and they know one day we will join them. They have so many people to see, ancestors they never knew, and all the things they like. At least that is how it is my mind.

From a song to St. Peter:

And let them love, Peter
For they've had no time
They should have trees and bird songs
And hills to climb

The taste of summer in a ripened pear
And girls sweet as meadow wind
With flowing hair

And tell them how they are missed
But say not to fear
It's gonna be alright
With us down here

Anyone ever set up an endowed scholarship before? Just an idea. Probably needs it's own thread, but I would donate a couple bucks for all of the Ags that lost kids and grandkids through this if a scholarship was created in their memory.

I have a niece that works for the A&M Foundation, she helped us with one. Of course, any of the staff there could help.

We in the Aggie Band Class of '77 set up one to memorialize our classmates who have passed. Basically you need $25,000 to begin a scholarship.

The Foundation invests your seed money, and splits the return at 1% of the endowment goes to run the Foundation. Four percent goes to the scholarship recipient.

Any return above 5% is reinvested into the scholarship endowment. So using the $25k, and assume a return of 7%, an extra $500 would be banked in the endowment above the Foundation and recipient cuts.

In that example, the recipient would get $1,000 the first year, $1,020 in year two, and hopefully more as the endowment grows.

Derm, I don't know you but have come to be indoors by your relentless pursuit of God, despite the hardships. I have spent quite a bit of time praying for you and your family the last few days. I'm so sorry. I cannot imagine the pain.
My prayers will not cease. For peace. For comfort. Mary Grace is home now. You will all see her again.
Basically, A&M's stadium is like the anti-Longhorn Network, a place everyone wants to be, but not everyone fits.

Thank you. When I saw it the other day I broke down in tears thinking about my parents. Once this disaster started unfolding, it kept coming back to me.

Derm, I'm very sorry for your family's loss. No words can describe the grief you and your family are going through. Thank you for sharing the updates and we will continue to pray for y'all in the weeks and months ahead. Praise God they found her body but most importantly that Mary Grace is now home with Jesus.

Derm, my prayers go out to you and your wonderful family during this difficult time. As a grandfather of five, and the father of a special needs adult daughter, my heart just breaks for you and the other loved ones all across the state that are going through this tragic situation.

May God's Kingdom welcome these precious souls into His loving arms, and may peace and comfort be with each family.

For the group, I did have to work today. However, I can playback air assets. I can tell you that the focus of all air assets focused between Center Point and Comfort. That included a number of helos. I believe USCG Ocean Sentry scanned the same area.

They almost appear to be working in a grid manner over time.

I was asked to join one of the volunteer search teams tomorrow that has been working the Hunt/Ingram area. I've worked a bunch of hurricane and flood cleanups in Houston and LA but this will be different. Just hoping our efforts will make a difference for someone or some family. The team located a child (deceased) today that had been trapped inside a collapsed home. Been praying for these families for the last several days…what a tough situation.

Dermdoc,

I am so sorry for your loss and just gutted by the whole thought of what you and your family have endured. I came across this instagram account the other day and being a baseball fan, I hope it resonates with you. The guy takes photos of players at all levels rounding third and coming into home after hitting walkoff home runs, because he feels like the images represent what it will feel like to enter heaven. I hope that Jesus and all of the angels are waiting there at home to welcome Mary Grace across the plate.

I have started, backspaced, started again on a post...nothing seems adequate, but this picture hit me right where I live and it's worthy of a repost.

God bless each and every one of you who lost young ones. I can't even begin to know that pain, and your faith is inspirational.

I think that could be tough emotionally. Their was a post earlier today about decompressing after such searches. It was a tough read. I commend you for volunteering.

I followed this closely over the last few days, but largely stayed clear because as welcoming as you all have been to me since I started posting here, this felt like a family issue that I wasn't a part of and didn't want to intrude.
I will just say two things.
First, my heart goes out to all affected by this, I can't begin to imagine what some here and many others who aren't are going through. I truly hope you eventually find solace, especially Derm.
Second, and a bit more abstract, threads like this are why when I started posting here around the time of realignment many years ago I never left. There is just a unique kinship and compassion you all share when times get tough that's uplifting and inspiring, even in moments as awful as these. It's a little slice of humanity missing in so many other places today, so thank you. I hope that part of the A&M tradition never changes.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening here in Comfort, about 40 mins before sundown, there has been a constant pink hue outside. The combination of the sunset and the clouds made everything outside look pink. Can only think it was God opening his arms to bring all those sweet girls home.

I have been lurking since this all started since I live across the country now, but this has hit close to my heart. . I lived near Canyon Lake during high school, but we moved North 15 years ago. We brought the family to Texas just a couple of weeks ago and tubed down the Comal.I'm a girl dad, and we had a bit of a close call with two of them in a car accident right before Christmas, so the nostalgia and the worry have made me, and I'm sure many others, wanting to put a hand on all your shoulders.

There are a lot of us who have been celebrating the reunions and grieving with your losses silently. You have all our prayers and our feeble offers of solace.

Whatever it's worth, Derm, there's a tree here in Ft. Wayne, Indiana with a pink ribbon. God bless you.
