How far does the search and rescue operation extend down river?
During the Wimberley flood of 2015, the search extended to Martindale, a distance of about 20 miles following the flow of the river

Last victim was located South of 35.

She was a Wren at Longhorn. Dear family friends' daughter was her counselor. Called her mother bawling as soon as the drive through V-day was complete.

Are you saying Blakely has been found?

No she hasn't been found. Just the information from another camper or counselor who was able to get out.

I suspect Blakely is with Derms great niece.

Hermann Sons appears to be fine. Our son was supposed to attend this coming week session but it was cancelled this morning. Below is except we received from Hermann Sons.

"Good morning, Parent/Guardian for Week 2 Campers!

As everyone knows yesterday, July 4, 2025, Kerr and surrounding counties were devastated by flood waters. Hermann Sons Life campers were not on camp and very few staff members were present on Hilltop. As the waters recede and the rain slows down we have been able to access the area. Unfortunately, even though our facility was minimally impacted the roads and bridges that lead up to the camp were not so lucky."

Threads like these are why I chose to head to A&M from Kerrville Tivy back in 2002. You guys are awesome. I grew up in Kerrville and still go back regularly to see my grandma, who has a house on Quinlan Creek just outside of city limits. I've spent many quiet, early mornings running the beautiful river trail the city has built. It spans all the way from UGRA Dam next to the local senior center (Nimitz lake, they keep calling it Kerrville Lake on the news) to Flat Rock Lake/Park (by the State Park). I never, ever would've imagined the water would get as high as it did in town. Prayers sent to all who are involved in the search as the amount of areas, feeder creeks, and tough-to-travel sections I can mentally picture is mind blowing. I also subscribe to the Kerrville Daily Times. They have a running list of people reported missing locally, composed mainly of those outside of the ones being reported on the news. It's similar to the canva document and other lists local Facebook groups and internet gurus have tried to come up with. Its extensive.

Mayor Herring bleeds blue and gold and truly loves his city perhaps about as much as humanly possible. The emotion you see in these press conferences is genuine. His long pauses are probably all he can do to stay professional and carry out his job. Prior to recently being voted mayor, he had a weekly "Kerrville History" column in the KDT that I looked forward to reading every single weekend no matter where I was living at the time. He would dig up stories and pictures going back to early days of Kerrville.

If you want to get a better feel for the community in this time of tragedy, I highly recommend going to Kerrville Daily Times website and signing up for the trial subscription they have available.

My grandmother is currently in hospice care here in SA, with previous funeral arrangements made at Grimes Funeral Home in Kerrville. That ads another "wrinkle" for us. While she is still with us, we are at a point that she can't understand or listen to these tragic stories. Deep inside I almost count that as a small, hidden blessing in all this tragedy and heartache as her heart is large and emotions just as deep. I am proud to be a member of the Aggie Nation, it truly is an amazing blessing.

P.S- This post is probably riddled with grammar problems and other mistakes. I apologize, it's an emotional time.

CNN interviewed the dad of a girl from UTSA. She was camping with boyfriend and another college age couple and called dad at 4am. Other couple swept away while they were on the phone. Then phone went dead. Horrifying. Dad had been walking the river banks this morning looking and found body of a young boy, and still looking for his daughter and friends. Praying they are also found.

Can't imagine anyone better to be mayor right now than Herring. I was Tivy class of '03 with his son and my people are all still over there.

We couldn't get to my grandparents in Center Point yesterday but luckily the hospice folks could and got them to a care facility in Comfort until their power comes back.

Obviously those girls are the big story but there's got to be so many stories of heroic actions all along that stretch of river to come. My granddad helped rescue some people back in '78 and still has a rifle the family game him afterwards. Which is to say I've heard of and seen some Kerrville floods and never seen anything like how fast it was yesterday.

How is your baby girl handling everything?

She's intermittently breaking down just like her mom and I. I have had everyone I know blowing me up today. Yesterday was a nightmare and today has been the most emotional day of my life recounting the horrors and catharsis/elation of reuniting with my daughter. I am so blessed to have had so much love and support today that I'm happy to be this emotionally exhausted. We are still hurting for the families of the missing and praying for their safe return.

Bless you and your family sir & continued prayers to the dermdoc family. I have been in Wimberley with family so haven't been on here until now. I've been getting info from local news and from Aggie buddy group text who know of people who had kids at the camp and unfortunately they knew one of the guys well who lost a daughter. Keep praying everyone…..pray often

Just talked to a buddy of mine that drove up from Corpus Christi to help out. He has a friend with a ranch on the Guadalupe. He found a deceased adult male today. I asked him if there were many people walking the banks of the river. He said not on this private ranch. Plus it was 20 miles down river from Mystic.

Hi - Not trying to duplicate any information already posted, or take over the thread.

I live in Midland, have a 2nd home at River Bend Ranch in Hunt, and my oldest (10 years old) was at Camp Mystic Cypress Lakes. We were in Hunt for the 4th weekend when the storm hit. Obviously got flooded in becuase of the low water crossings being impassable. Absolutely gut wrenching to see and hear the helicopters doing search and rescue but not being able to get to my daughter yesterday and last night.

My daughter and her cabin were driven out of Cypress Lakes around 8pm last night. We have friends from Midland who also had 2 daughters at Cypress Lakes as well. Friends were able to pick up all the girls last night and get them to another's friends house in Horsehoe Bay. We were able to leave Hunt around 5am this morning, drive to HSB and be reunited.

Me, my wife and our friends have been on nerve and jittery all day. My daughter is fine. The camp kept the devastating news from them. She was exhausted and slept the entire drive home.

She's talking monotone about the events, but the details are scary. The Cypress Lakes girls each donated a set of clothes to the Guadalupe girls.

The search and rescue crews, volunteers, LEO are incredible. No idea who the sweet woman was at Ingram School was who comforted my daughter and let her use her phone to FaceTime us, but she is a special person.

When we drove through Kerrville this morning it seemed like every Game Warden in the state was coming into town. I counted at least 50. Incredible to watch.

We're devastated about the news of the missing girls. Absolute nightmare. When we got home my daughter asked about what really happened and we told her the details. Absolutely heart broken for everyone.

Just listening to Abbott's press conference. Multiple times he stated everyone will be recovered, even though hopeful for further rescues. I spent several days along the Blanco leading teams of 7-10 volunteers, with and without cadaver dogs after the 2015 Memorial day flood. I was dead set on finding the McComb children or whomever was still missing. I failed that mission and for most tasks felt we were only 1% effective in the very limited areas we were tasked with. A needle in a haystack would have been a million times easier. My heart breaks for those families as it still does for Jonathan McComb, and I pray for both rescue and recovery for all, hoping that I am wrong in that some will never be found.
Hey JFABNRGR, sorry for commenting on this so late I'm a newer user and it wouldn't let me post another comment for a bit.

I just wanted to comment that I was following the search for the McComb family and their friends when that tragedy happened. My family had moved out of the country for work just prior, and I felt very disconnected and helpless as it was ongoing.

Your comment struck me in that you said you'd failed ... I wanted to personally thank you for being there when most of us could not. I personally counted on and trusted that you and the SAR teams were there doing the hard work to try and bring those families home. You may not have found them all, but you were there for your country and community, you represented the best of us and you should be proud. Thank you so much.

Haven't posted yet. From NB. Love the hill country. Love the Guadalupe. Have seen its beauty. Have seen its power in 1998 and 2002. Father of twins that went away to camp in Mississippi. No affiliation here other than empathy as a father and someone with deep connection to that area. I've been glued to this thread. I cannot bring to words or even thoughts how in shock in am. Much love to everyone. Gigem and God Bless.
