No kidding. As a father, these stories are hitting really hard.

Just got back from searching this afternoon. Honestly I'm shocked how little foot traffic there is searching. I'm trying to understand why they keep saying don't come help when you need all the eyes possible digging through that stuff.

Wife just found out a family from her hometown church community in Liberty County who were staying in an RV camp were victims to the storms. Bodies of husband and son found, wife and other son still missing. 8 year old Daughter was at one of the camps in the area, but not sure which one. She was successfully evacuated, only to find out that the rest of her family was missing.
May God have mercy.
Thats my friend John I mentioned earlier (in this thread or the other).
Last I saw was they recovered him this morning but had not found his wife or their boys.
They were a very special family, this has been hard on everyone who knew them for sure.

Im so sorry for your loss, and I did not intend to post inaccurate information.
My FIL is very involved in St. Stephen's Episcopal in Liberty and I was hearing it second hand from my wife.
I hope they find the missing 3 as soon as possible.

Anyone that has a loved one that went through this - plenty of time to evaluate but planting a seed. As someone who has been through an event that I'll never forget, a therapy called EMDR did wonders for me. Nothing removes the memory, but the brain can experience healing and the accompanying emotions can be deescalated in time.
have they declared this area a recovery area yet, or is it still being officially considered a rescue area?STL_aTm said:

I read somewhere they didn't want tons of folks walking through the rescue area so the dogs wouldn't have so many scents to process.

Hey guys, serious question is how would someone know where some additional searchers would be welcome and helpful?

The answer could lay in that terminology…
If it's still technically an active rescue area, more people in the area can complicate rescue efforts and confuse ground operations…
If it is officially deemed a recovery effort, you should start seeing more folks arrive and volunteers will be welcomed at that point…

I don't want this to be taken the wrong way at all, but from going thru bonfire it was good to see our roster checked off one by one until sadly we had one that never checked in. Each one checked in was lifting.
Happy to report my two have checked in at home.
