Main reason is because parents have been going back and forth to funeral homes all day id'ing bodies looking for there kid(s). With DNA they can at least stop them from having to do that. I couldn't imagine.

Doesn't an Apple Watch with cellular data have the ability to be found?
Cellular data isn't super reliable during power outages, especially in rural areas.

I was staying near the Trinity River during the May flood last year, and one of the apps I was using to track the storm showed my location about 6 or 7 miles away from where I was - which I guess was the nearest working big cell tower I could ping to.

Been following this thread all day, praying for good news and for all those working search and rescue. I know given the extent of the flooding and damage that discouragement sets in the longer this goes, but keep the faith. God is a God of miracles.

I've been refreshing every few minutes all day, just waiting and hoping and praying for good news from Dermdoc and Wynne Naylor's family friend. I can't imagine. My prayers continue.
I just want to win and stop suffering from BAS

"They found 5 bodies today and are taking the parents dna tomorrow at 7:30 to help them identify. So much better than making parents go to identify the body of their child."

I don't know who your friend is, but I live in Dallas and can confirm the DNA request. Precaution since they would have been in the water for 2 days now. My friend had to go identify several young girls who were not his daughter; that trauma will live with him forever.

I have twin daughters (12) and a son (10). I have been following this thread intensely as everyone else has. My kids are out of town at the moment but safe. But after reading all the stories the last 36 hours I really wanted to give them a hug but I can't as they aren't here. I know they are safe but still it hurts. I cannot imagine what the parents of this tragedy are going thru. I'm struggling with a hug and they are..well you know. Anyway, I'm crying now. Please God help these parents and other family members get over this tragedy.

Same here - have a close, close friend whose daughter had to go to the morgue. Their little girl wasn't there so they are still waiting.

The bodies of Jeff and Amber Wilson and their son Shiloh were all found today still together in their truck camper, according to a message from Shiloh's Kindergarten teacher (my daughter has been classmates with Shiloh since kinder.)

Jeff was a teacher at Kingwood Park High School.

Message from Shiloh's Kindergarten teacher:

Quote:

Family has confirmed the Wilsons were found deceased today. They were in their camper together and have assumed their journey into heaven the same way. Continue your prayers for their family and friends. This is not what we all wanted to hear but we now they can rest peacefully

Wife just found out a family from her hometown church community in Liberty County who were staying in an RV camp were victims to the storms. Bodies of husband and son found, wife and other son still missing.

8 year old Daughter was at one of the camps in the area, but not sure which one (edit: it was Camp Longhorn). She was successfully evacuated, only to find out that the rest of her family was missing.

May God have mercy.
Yeah, they are friends of ours, particularly my two daughters and their husbands and children. Someone posted on Facebook pictures of their oldest son and one of my grandsons at church, in the pews and at the communion rail, and the tears have come flooding back.

I had not heard they found one of the boys, but heard they found the father.
According to the latest (3 hrs ago) news story, there is some confusion about the identities of some of the family members.

I still pray for the safe return and passage for the entire family and feel regret posting this information. I tried to be vague to protect their privacy and identities, but was careless in posting unverified information.

Per my understanding from by friend who deals with this, we want it to remain a rescue for as long as possible, even if that's not really the case. No permission is required for property access this way. When it's recovery, then permission must be sought and it gets to be a pain in the neck. If I have relayed this I correctly then I apologize.

One of my daughter's best friends was at Camp Mystic and was one of the ones rescued via helicopter. She's reunited with her family and safe now back at home in the Dallas area. As her mom put it today, "We are safe, but mentally we are not okay at all. We are actually very traumatized."

This story and this thread has stuck with me all day. This tragedy is as awful as it gets.

I'd 2nd this, I attended in the mid 2000's and had a year it flooded, lake probably came up 6' or so. Water cabin walkways under water, but the camp still largely functioned. Have a nephew who is just finishing 2nd term. Being a lake I think there is a much larger surface area for water to accumulate gradually compared to a river, and it is controlled by dams up and down stream to help control flow. That said thinking of this tragedy just makes me want to hug my little ones and never let go. My heart goes out to all families and individuals impacted by this tragedy

We picked up at Inks today and not a word of tomorrow being an issue. We picked up at Mystic last week so this has been a difficult weekend for us but CLH seems to be all systems go. The lake was very high but it will recede just as quick. Pray very hard for Mystic as I know you all are. It is such a difficult time for the entire Mystic family.

You meant no harm. I checked with my wife (she is involved in everything at the church) and she confirmed the current situation. If there are any developments she and both my daughters will know immediately and I will post them here. The media showed up at the prayer vigil and was taking pictures inside the church during the service until she got told to stop.

I think I was near you (or another parent of a Wiggle Inn girl) when your little one came out. Ours was also in Wiggle Inn.

Words cannot express the relief as well as the sadness we feel for the families of the missing girls.

Drove through parts of Kerrville on my way home tonight (we live in the area) - first thought was that there didn't appear to be many out searching, but then I realized the amount of debris greatly limits what a person could accomplish without some heavy equipment. This is going to be a long process after the rescue mission is finalized.

The sitting around is killing us. We want to help. I know they are saying not to come but **** that. We have to do something to help them.

They have a spirit tag, so you might not be able to PM them.

Thankfully our son & girlfriend came home for the 4th..
But, she heard about HS classmates from Kelly were missing....
After hearing that dad, I'm sure she knows him to...
I just hope something in this makes sense cause I can barely see the phone thru the tears...
God's blessings to all....

Appears to be a ground operation unless there are drones up. There are no detectable air assets airborne tonight.

This is the family we have been desperately trying to find updates for. We know the father has been found but have seen a couple comments that one of the boys has been found. Is there any way to confirm this?

Nevermind. USCG fixed wing aircraft is up. Same plane that was down near The park this morning. I suspect that plane has FLIR cameras.

USCG HC-144A Ocean Sentry in the area. Very advanced radar and EO/IR capabilities.

According to my wife, only the father has been found. She and both of my daughters would know almost immediately if there is a change in this and I will post it here. The family is extremely close to my two daughters and their families.
