Billboards are Outdoors!

Need help locating an "old school" billboard painter to paint an 80'x20' billboard near Comfort, Texas. This is a dying art, but perhaps the OB "knows" better.

Don't have the "copy" or design yet, but it will consist of a name and phone number and perhaps some artwork. What say you? TIA

I know somebody that could probably handle this. He's in the Dallas area but is from that area and wouldn't mind an excuse to visit family and friends.

I know a fella in San Antonio that used to do that. He had a huge rack in his backyard and would paint them. He did signs and stuff as well. He was a true artist. He could free hand letters with no patterns.
I ll make some calls to see if he is still doing it.
Everybody called him "Ace".

I ran down the son of the man I was talking about. Sadly his dad passed away about a year ago. I had no idea. He was super talented.

Austin has a bunch of urban graffiti artists. They celebrate it. Should not be difficult to find one.

Finding guys that actually paint billboards (and vehicles) these days is like finding guys who deliver blocks of ice to 'ice boxes' in houses.

I used a couple of super-talented guys back in the 80's to do that type of work. When they were sober, it was mind-blowing to see what they could do with their brushes, patterns, pounce wheels, and sign lettering enamels.

They'd do a car one day, and then get up on a giant billboard the next. One of the guys I used actually only had one arm (he'd lost it in a motorcycle accident) but he didn't let that slow him down. I was super impressed.

The last time I checked, those guys were in their late 70's and mid 80's, and I haven't run into them in a long, long while. They did love to drink.

The vinyl lettering and wrap guys pretty much took away their small sign and vehicle lettering work, and it seems most billboards these days are digitally printed in a shop and then just 'assembled' up on the big billboards.

Things change. Story at 10:00. Sorry I'm not helpful to you at all, but thought I'd just share that you might have trouble finding someone if you actually want it 'painted.'

Good luck.
