What a day! The desert of Utah has treated me extremely well over the past few years, and this year was the cream of the crop. It will most likely be the biggest deer that I ever kill in my life. It's an unbelievably satisfying feeling, but also an emotionally challenging one, as it somewhat puts a cap on a top North American species for me. That's just probability for anybody that hunts public land (BLM). I love truly love chasing big muleys. The stars lined up on this buck that's been chased through the desert for a couple years by multiple hunters and somehow, for whatever reason, I was beyond lucky today. It's a long story that I'll post later, but an incredible buck is no longer on the market. Still super surreal because it happened so fast. Yeah, I was most definitely shaking like a high school boy on prom night when I stared through the scope, but somehow held it together long enough to punch a good hole. We scored him earlier today at 216-5/8", but we will double check that tomorrow. I don't really care about the score, as he's a buck of a few lifetimes, and one that I've dreamed about for many of nights. An awesome box frame, solid forks, bladed brows, ridiculous mass throughout, and enough cheaters to still be classy. If I could sleep with a deer, I would!
