Roger that. It's just heart breaking. All we can do is pray for rain.

La Niña is the worst for Texas. We need rain badly and we need El Niño to move in.

Thankfully La Nina is out and hopefully a solid El Nino is headed in.

We got an 1.20 last night in central Texas with hopefully more to come this weekend. Need to break this 20 plus year drought.

Hyperbole much?

We could use a hurricane right about now...

I don't know about hurricanes but Del Rio is getting absolutely hammered right now. I don't have anyone on the ground to confirm but the radar products are certainly alarming.

Anyone on the hill country really needs to be keeping eyes on things and if you don't have your vehicle under cover or in a garage, try to make it so in the next couple of hours.

I've always been religious about keeping my trucks under cover but until recently I always had ONE that had to live outside due to lack of structures. I cheated Mother Nature 5 years and then she dropped some golf balls on me and even under the live oaks my old truck got a small ding or two. After that, I put a metal lean to on my shop and everything is covered now.

Yeah took me about 10 min of rearranging to be able to fit both in. So far have been lucky. Not sure where this storm is going. Look like miss bandera again and hit Kerrville.

My folks place in Leakey got hammered about an hour ago with lemon size hail. Neighbor going to check to make sure no broken windows. Metal roof probably all dented up

And smells like. Really miss the smell of wet soil and the frogs croaking.

I kind of wonder if what we are seeing now is mostly because of aquifer depletion. In my relatively short lifetime I have watched all the spring-fed creeks around me in the hill country go from always running when I was a kid, to not running briefly during a drought or two (e.g. 2011), to now only running for a day or two after storms and bone dry the rest of the time. The shallow aquifers that used to overflow into creeks must have also supported trees that could tap down into them. That's gone now. And think how much of a cooling effect and added moisture into the air (thus more localized and consistent rain) all that evaporation from aquifer-fed trees and grasses must have had. That's completely gone now.
