Some drunk hit my son's car while parked in front of his buddy's house. To make this Outdoors related, they were asleep and had a high school fishing tournament the next day, so he didn't find out until he was on the water.

The drunk hit multiple cars on the street and was arrested for DWI. I have the police report, but wondering how I get a copy of his car insurance info to file a claim. I know where he lives and wondering if I should knock on his door.

You have the police report from the accident? It doesn't have his insurance company listed on it?

If you have his license plate number your insurance adjuster can find his insurance policy. If they say they can't, they're either lazy or don't know what they're doing.

Thanks! His plate info is in the report. Didn't know the adjuster could track that down so I appreciate the info! I'm with USAA so hopefully they know what to do.

No, his insurance info is not in the report, which is odd.

We have USAA. They took excellent care of us with an accident. We called them, sent a scan of the report, (it didn't have the lady's insurance info either) and they handled everything very quickly. (Like within a day or so). I could not have asked for it to go any better. Best thing was they didn't go up on my rate the next year either!
