I am Trying to help my FIL friend price this, and also potentially purchase it. It is likely a 1997 vintage. I don't know how many hours, but its under 1000 I believe. I know it was meticulously maintained. The machine has no known issues, I saw it working today, seems to be no issues or leaks outside of standard oil staining typical for tractors of this age and use. It has a loader, bail spear, and a Rhino 8' drawbar type shredder. Shredder has little value and thats free we buy the tractor. I'd have to do some welding and deck work on the shredder.

I'm dealing with the son right now and he thinks the tractor should be 20-25k. That's Snoop Dogg at a Diddy party to me. Personally, for a 2wd machine, I simply don't think it's worth more than 14k-15k, maybe. Prices online are wild swings from 7,000-18,000. Willing to pay a fair price, but having a tough time figuring out what that is. Unfortunately, this HP is the sweet spot for a lot of folks.

What say you guys?

Brazos. Saw your post this am so was going to chime in.
My neighbor rancher just sold a 1999 Ford 3430 for $11,500. He and his brother bought it brand new in 2000. It had 850 or so hours on it when I looked at it back in December.
Immaculate condition. Had been barn kept and they are meticulous anal guys on maintenance. Real good rubber on it too. It looked great with original paint. It also had a canopy and rear hydraulics. No oil or hydraulic leaks and nothing wrong with it.
2WD, no loader but had front weights.
They are old time ranchers in the area and well respected. They had it for sale for about 9 months asking $15,000 for it.
In February they had it in a farm equipment auction and had a $13,000 reserve on it. They didn't get that and PO'd it.
I went and looked at it but wanted 4WD. They told me I could buy it for $13,000. but I really needed 4WD so passed.
I saw him in town this week and he said they had finally sold it.
I think your guy is really high on the price. I think, with the loader, it's worth $13,000 -14,000 max.
Up here that size tractor is very popular in this rural farm/ranch area and good tractors sell very fast. If my neighbors only got what they did, and as as many farmers they know, I think that is a realistic comp on it.
Hope this helps some.

Boat racing is like a beautiful woman.......expensive, high maintenance, but well worth the fun!

Check TractorHouse.com. There are only 3 of that model listed, and the highest is $18,900 with 1032 hours. One is at $12500 with 1044 hours. The third one is "Call for Price" with 721 hours. All 3 are 2wd and '97 to '99. And they're for sale through companies. No way am I paying what he's asking for it.

Yeah, I thought it was high as well. I have to negotiate for a living so I almost always value things well under where I want to be and I was worried I was subconsciously doing that. Thanks for all the feedback. Originally when my FIL said it was for sale my mind went to "12.5k max". But as I stewed on it I talked myself up to 15 and the adamant ask of 20k made be doubt myself further. As stated it's a popular size and power range. I spent twice on my 60hp as what my best friend spent on his 100hp.

Thank you all. I'm going sit firm at 14. It will likely go with the property.

Like gunny, I am a 4wd guy. My machines are all used for dirt work, or tillage, or material handling and that 4wd is handy as hell. Tractors in this power range aren't always heavy enough for the capacity they can handle, and it's not common to grab a tight heavy round bail.
