I owned a JD 2025R with the mid mower attachment. I cut about 5 acres with it.
The 2025 is basically the same as the 1025 with a bit more HP but a heavier frame and wider footprint.
The mower attachment is basically like a 60" (or 54") riding mower in capacity and cutting.
Uses regular mower type blades so it's not really made for cutting saplings up to any size.
Small sticks and stuff don't really hurt it. It's great for heavy weeds and grass etc….but it's not made for continuously cutting 1/2" or so growing saplings.
It's a lot more user friendly and maneuverable than using a three point bush hog (rotary cutter) but it doesn't have the capacity of cut…..but gives a much more finish cut than a rotary cutter.
If you're going to mainly be cutting grasses and weeds and want a finish mower look… it's good. If you are going to do more pasture clearing and rough cutting the bush hog (rotary cutter) is better.
I would tell you to spend the extra money and opt for the 2025R instead of the 1025R.
It gives a much better ride, much more comfortable operator area, more comfortable seating and the heavier frame is more conducive to more attachments in the future for you.
