My mom's husband (Korean war vet and huge gun guy) passed away several years ago. When I would come home from A&M for the summers, we would sit up late at night with some scotch and cigars on the patio and I would egg him on about "plastic guns" and how 9mm was the best caliber. He would always defend the "God's caliber" and 1911s. "Don't need 17 rounds if you know how to shoot!"
My mom and I bought him a Kimber Pro CDP for Christmas back in 2000. Fast forward to present day: I was helping my mom find some documents she needs and came across a small note from him saying that he wanted me to have this Kimber Pro CDP. The same one we bought him for Christmas.
Changed the old OEM sights to some new TFOs and swapped out the grips to something more my style. Fond memories and a treasured gift.
