Does anyone have any experience with the Discount Tire "house brand" tire, Rocky Mountain all terrain tires? Thinking about giving them a try but wanted to know if anyone had experience with them.

What kind of vehicle is this going on? The legacy Rocky Mountain tires are actually pretty good but they didn't make them on Lt sizes until recently. They used to stop around 235/75/15 or so.

They would not be my first choice to put on a light truck or SUV but I'm also a tire snob because I used to work there.

Don't skimp on tires. You don't have to get top shelf but seen mixed reviews on those. Always done well with Coopers and/or Falkens if you don't want to break the bank.

I know nothing about tires, but our 2021 Sequoia will need some new ones soon. Any recommendations ?

Mine is an F150. Predominately highway but I do pull a travel trailer occasionally.

2wd or 4wd? How many miles do you put on it a year?

The best SUV tire that you can buy and will have zero problems with and it will last at least 70k+ miles (as long as your rotate them at least 3-4 times, more often and they can go longer) is the Michelin L/TX or Defender. It is consequently the most expensive tire because of this but it they're just flawless. I saw 2 of them warrantied for mileage (60k) in my 5.5 years of working there and they were a econline van with a terrible alignment issue and they still made it to 45k.

After that, I would look at Yokohama, Pathfinder, and Falken.

If it is 4wd and you need something that is more A/T, let me know because that is a different category. Although, the michelin's are "okay" if you're in the dirt once a year.

What year? 2wd or 4wd? How heavy is the trailer you tow?

I would make sure you go with a tire that is equipped for the load your towing and make sure you don't need to increase the tire from SL to XL or D. I wouldn't recommend an E on a half ton if you don't have to do it (I have them on mine but only because of the size tire I run).

2015 4WD and the trailer is 7700 dry weight and 680 tongue.

Gonna need new tires on my 2wd Tacoma at some point this yr. Want an all terrain type. What would you suggest?

2wd, mom mobile with the occasional long family trip and gravel road for the ranch from time to time, but no real offroad needs. Probably avg 20K a year . Thanks!

Our company rep trucks had run Michelin for years as well as myself on my F150 and F350. Defender LTX A/T 2 and Defender LTX M/S. I had been a Michelin guy forever.
Until the last couple of years. Just about every field rep trucks (GMC Yukon XL) had bad problems with their Michelins. My F350 and F150 had the same issues….basically not holding up at all….and low mileage.
I don't know what's happened to Michelin but they are not the tire they used to be.
I spent $3500 two weeks ago for new tires on my F350 and F150. Sadly this time they aren't Michelins.
Your buddies at Discount Tire sold me on Bridgestone Dueller Ascents. That's what I just put on both of my trucks. My main box to check was superior traction on wet roads pulling a boat or stock trailer, or gooseneck equipment trailer.
So far I really like them. We'll see.

Were they replaced Michelins or OEM ones? There is a difference…

I thought you had a tundra?

Toyos are good but pricey
BFGs KO3s are okay (I have them) but not sure they're worth the money
Nittos are night and day better than they used to be an probably one of the better options
Falkens probably are up in top 3
Coopers are solid
Bridgestone has a decent AT but I don't like them
I wouldn't touch a Goodyear AT with a 10' pole. They might be better now but those tires were always having problems…

I have a set of this tire on our 2017 Expedition EL. So, basically a heavy F150. Theyve been fine. Nothing exciting but they ride fine, are wearing well, and haven't had any traction issues. They have maybe a slightly less wide tread width then their destination series but the tread pattern seems to grip fine in most conditions and is reasonably quiet on the road.

Both. Our factory trucks had Michelin OEM. And we ran those trucks to 120,000-130,000 miles and so replaced with Michelins usually two times.
Same with my F150 but F350 has had three sets of Michelins but came OEM with Continentals.
Every time we ( the factory) put new Michelins on they got worse in longevity and quality.
Switched to all Coopers on the company trucks for two years because they partnered up with us in sponsorship of a tournament circuit so they had us on a promotional discount. Ran Cooper Discover. Great traction for pulling our boats but did not hold up well….tread wear declined quickly.
The company made us turn in maintenance reports on the trucks every month which included making sure we all had our tires rotated and balanced every 5,000 miles.

I have always had issues with OEM Michelins. Someone told me they use less rubber to make them cheaper for manufacturers.

As a result, I avoid buying tires from the dealer when offered and just head to Discount for replacements.

On my K1500 I have Goodyear Wrangler with kevlar (damn locust trees) that have held up very well on highway and gravel. Just keep them rotated.

Buddy with F250 hauls trailers mostly on highway and started running Milestar Patagonia on a few of his company trucks for past couple of years and likes them, so I put them on my Z71 daily driver and they have been good for first few thousand miles! I ran Toyos before but Milestar pricing is better.

We have had the same issues with both OEM and then replacements from tire dealers.

I used to think the same thing. Last set of tires I bought were an off brand from Dutchman's Tire Warehouse. Basically a Nitto knockoff.

That was close to 2 years ago now, and they are still on my truck. They have worn better than the Nitto's I've tried in the past and I'm pushing 60k on them now (and I am absolutely terrible at rotating regularly). Less than half the price too, I figured it was a gamble when I bought them but also kind of figured that even if they only lasted half as long I'm still doing good.

Could be I just got lucky, who knows. But I'm going to probably go the same route next time too. I honestly think tires are one of the most overpriced items we have to buy, and the tire manufacturer's know it.

Also had issues with Michelin AT2s on three different trucks. They changed something, or a supplier had to substitute something in their formulation, and it caused major quality issues (bulging sidewalls in my case on separate vehicles).

Was a loyal customer for years, but the lack of more aggressive offroad tread + this quality issue was the end. Haven't gone back since - BFG (good) and Yokohamas (good enough) since.
