Which Dump Trailer

Will be buying a new dump trailer within the next week or 2 for work. I'm still running a half ton truck, but will be going bigger at some point. I've been using a 7 x 14 14k dump recently, but considering going smaller and cheaper now and then upgrading down the line to bigger.

Normal loads will be dirt and gravel with occasional concrete and chopped stone.

Mainly looking for any opinions on the 3 low cost brands readily available in Texas: Texas Pride, Top Hat, and Patriot. Texas Pride seems to offer all of the heavier duty things as upgrades, but still low cost which is nice.

Have not read great things about Texas Pride on the finish of their dump trailers and that they really don't warranty much that messes up. Look at online reviews of them. Customers talk about the paint peeling almost instantly on brand new trailers from them and that pretty much nothing is covered under warranty when issues arise.

You get what you pay for with Texas Pride. We've bought a 32' gooseneck and a few dump trailers from them over the last 24 months. We don't have any complaints thus far but have not had them all that long either. We went with Texas Pride because of their price.

We did have a miscommunication on one order. Texas Pride did work with us to fix the issue. It was their error but we didn't catch it during the ordering process. Cost us some addition dollars but they did good making things right.

We have been happy with texas pride. The single cylinder in front is the way to go for sure. There was a thread a month or 2 ago on this also

Texas Pride is OK for the money. I wouldn't bank on it holding up to everyday use. Buying for personal use once a month or so it's fine maybe. I think the build their own axles, not Dexter or Lippert

Here is my post from that other thread.

Only thing to add. Avoid Texas Pride.

I have a 16' dump with 4' walls BP. and a 20something' lowboy GN.

The lowboy GN is junk. The neck specifically is junk. And the axles are junk.

The dump has been ok so far. Single telescopic lift. We haul a mini X or a skid steer in it occasionally. The mechanism to hold the doors open destroyed itself due to the leverage the doors have on it. It's a cheap gadget they have.

I had both trailers over built for what I need. I can't imagine how flimsy they would be without the extra we had added.

Just bought a ranch king GN low profile deck over to replace the Texas Pride. The Pride looks like a toy next to the Ranch King. It's embarrassing.

We bought a single axle Texas Pride for hauling our zero turn and had to replace the decking after a couple of years. The rest of the trailer has been fine though.

Good find. I'm gonna go to the location in Willis this week and look at all of them as they have 5 different brands all on the affordable side
