Recently I pulled a rifle out of the safe I had forgotten about. The rifle is a Remington model 788 in.243. I took the old Tasco 4x scope off and put a Vortex Diamondback on it.The rifle is amazingly accurate.I want to use it as my "ranch gun" but the noise is really bad for an old man wearing hearing aids, I have taken the rifle to two different places to have the barrel treaded and been told they couldn"t do it. Apparently thebarrel length is a problem. the barrel is nearly bull diameter so thickness can"t be a problem. Any help from the board in locating a reliable smith would be appreciated,
