I found a replacement truck bed for my truck about four hours away.

I figure using a flatbed U-Haul trailer with 2x4's and ratchet straps upside down would make the most sense.

I have a 16 foot dual axle utility trailer, but would rather have the bed sitting on a flatbed trailer.

Thoughts?

We've hauled them right side up, but it can and usually will crush the fender pinch welds. Usually, we don't give a hoot, because if I need to buy an entire truck bed, it's going to the body shop anyway. But, upside down is generally safer, if you can manage it.

It's sad how cheap these truck beds are these days.

I get it. My cattle were dumbazzes so I went steel flatbed instead of body shop.

Full size or mid size?

I ask because after messing with my son's Mazda B3000 we could have the bed off in about 15 minutes and about the same to put it back on..

Drive out there with a helper, swap beds, put your beat up one "kinda" in the new one and drive back on.

Even better if you already have some magnetic trailer lights.. Drive out there sans bed and then install it.

Full size. 6 1/2 foot bed. This is most likely not something I could do; I'm kind of a dumbass when it comes to cars. Plus, I don't really have anyone around here that could help me.

Found a shop that will swap it out for 200 bucks. I'll probably go ahead and do that; easiest thing for me.

Removed the bed from my son's 96 F150 to replace the fuel pumps.

Had to grind out one of the bed bolts. The replacement I bought from Rock Auto was terrible. It did thread on, but was so tight it stripped out the bed and wouldn't tighten.

I got some NOS off Ebay and solved the problem.

For $200 I'd make sure they are using the correct bolts...
