The wise, beneficent and just overlords of the People's Republic of Free Colorado just posted a 152 page draft showing some of the scary, awful and downright mean semiautomatic guns that they plan to ban to everyone's safety.

I scrolled through real quick to find some highlights that demonstrate the knowledge and wisdom of those who know better than you do what kind of gun is safe to own.

Starting off with a gun that apparently identifies as semi automatic (you can do that in Colorado) and therefore needs to be banned, the bolt action q fix and minifix.

But the next gun is something that has desperately needed legislation for a long time now. Less than 250 semi automatic French Famas rifles were imported into the US. I don't have the exact numbers, but I'm sure more than 200 of them have been used to commit crimes. Plus, it's French.

This gun was designed specifically to be California legal. But since Colorado is full of people who used to be Californians, they wanted to one up their home state and make sure to ban this contraption. Fightlight SCR with no muzzle device, pistol grip, adjustable stock, or shoulder thing that goes up? Ban it!

Next up: The Mauser M1916. Of the 600-1000 that were produced in Germany over a century ago, the ones that made it over to the US are all heavily involved in gun violence in Denver. I think the gangs must loan them out to museums during the week so the rest of us can appreciate their historical providence, since that's the only place I've ever seen one. Thanks, Bloods!

On the other end of the historical firearm spectrum from the M1916, the newly developed Henry Homesteader rifles are clearly too dangerous to be allowed out in public. I said so when I saw them released.

The Browning BAR (not that one, the new one....although actually the old one is banned by name too), Benelli R1, and Sauer S303 are also banned. I get it. If I see one more home invasion with a Sauer S303 on the news I'm going to lose my mind.

Also, I don't know how the F they managed to screw this one up so badly but the Saiga Arms Tavor Bullpub is banned. No, that's not a typo on my part. Also, Saiga makes the Tavor now. Who knew.

I saved the best for last. I actually agree with the democrats who run Colorado on this one. These two should be banned. They are awful looking.

M1As, SKS, S&Ws new FPC, the Ruger 10/22, LC carbine, keltec PR57 pistol, and others also made the list.

Thank you wise rulers of Colorado for protecting us all from the scourge of these dangerous, dangerous weapons. I feel safer already.

The video below summarizes the Colorado position with perfectly accurate information about how evil guns are.

I'm sure Kevin will have a sarcastic black and white video holding a sign saying something dumb in Sharpie out on Instagram later today to comment on this and explain why his rifle was the only one deserving to be on the list, and how all the other guns on the list are stupid.

Would be nice if "how stupid are my overlords and how much do they hate freedom" wasnt a factor in choosing where in America to live.

Also, sadly about half the people on this board would have zero issue with pretty much anything on this list.

Thankfully Colorado's lawmakers have been having a real bad few years visiting the Supreme Court. You'd think they'd get tired of being slapped around………. yet they keep passing bills that have no chance of surviving legal challenges.

I think you make an important point. I feel like these happen because the people living in those places simply don't have any sense of loss over it. It's "not my problem" kind of thing. Kinda like how people say "well, I don't shoot with braces so i don't care if they are banned."

And so after that happens a while they get braver and braver and now there is what I consider a quite extensive list of banned firearms that are no different than any other firearm which….will now be used to add more guns to the list.

I don't shoot braced either and I own none of those weapons because I think some of this is goofy but I still want every "common sense gun law" repealed because one day they will add something I have and it will be too late.

I would bet good money that a staffer "wrote" that with lots of help from ai and the BARs and M(19)16 ended up there because neither ai nor the staffer knew any better

They didn't have any expectation of these bills holding up, they are just appeasing their voter base to try and stay employed

This.

I mean, take Bender for example. That dude will stick his pecker in the ugliest, weirdest and most oddball useless (to me) guns out there. I'm talking "not even the Hall at closing after 12 beers and a year long slump" type of ugly.

But I want exactly 0 of those guns to be unavailable to him, you, me or anybody else.

And these politicians know their laws are going to get slapped down. This time, next time, maybe even the time after that. But at some point they won't. And they know that and if the left is good at anything, it's playing the long game.

I don't like living in a world where an intern using ai can produce legal slop that could put me in jail.

I couldn't pick a favorite ugly gun to post in response to this because I have so many fun oddballs so I'll just post one that this bill bans by name instead.

It isn't like the politicians are any better. Most of them are dumber than the interns, they are just better at workign the system than the intern is.

Apparently it's not big deal, because even if they pass this the court will eventually overturn in. Maybe.

Shame it interferes in the legal activity you had planned before the courts get to this in a few years. Of course, even if that happens, they will just write a new one to keep everything in limbo for another half decade waiting on a new ruling.

Maybe you can use your Fix in Colorado next decade!

I don't think this should affect you. The guns on that list aren't outright illegal to have in the state, they're now illegal to purchase in the state without going through a class of some kind. Penalty for mag size exceeding 15 rounds got harsher (now a class 1 misdemeanor), but I'm guessing you'll be good there too.

The bill was signed into law last year, goes into effect this August. That list is meant to provide guidance. No clue what effect that list will have in terms of enforcement.

Gotcha! Yes I spoke to multiple CPW folks about the legality of a 10rd detachable magazine in a bolt action vs. their regs which only clarify for semi auto

And this right here is how they condition everybody that their actions are justified and proof that the slow brainwashing system works.

"Guys! They aren't illegal! You just have to pay a registration fee and take X number of hours of your time to sit through a class that the government has put together to have the privilege of being able to own one! You'll have to buy it out of state, of course, but they aren't illegal-illegal! And it's only a misdemeanor on the mags, that's really no big deal, right?"

That and/or you get the other response per above of "…just don't live there…".

So, just give away all of the nicest areas of the country and hunker down in states that are importing H1B's who will eventually make the cities bluer.

I'm not defending or justifying it at all. I was simply trying to inform the poster that it wasn't illegal for him to bring the gun into the state. Which is accurate, and obviously wasn't clear to him based on how the thread had gone up to that point.

Colorado is surrounded by gun freedom states: Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arizona. Why live there with all those options?

Some of those I won't argue with (though arguments in favor of CO do exist), but you're really asking why someone would choose CO over Kansas or Nebraska?
