I will be in Longmont, CO in mid July and am looking for a fly fishing guide recommendation for the general area (Estes Park, Boulder, Longmont). Will be 2 people for half day wade fishing, intermediate skill level. Any input is appreciated.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from Boulder. Otherwise good luck with your fishing!

A couple of the guides for this outfit are also golfers at my local course. I've never been fishing with them, but they are good guys.

If you like good craft beer, good food, and sports bars, be sure to hit The Red Zone in Longmont. It's the sports bar area of the restaurant, Pumphouse. It's our favorite place in Longmont. But you have to ask to be seated in 'The Red Zone' otherwise you get seated in the restaurant or outside - same menu, tho.

Do you have the gear? I am a complete fly fishing novice (was my second time ever) and went to Estes Park last September for a conference. We stopped in Kirk's fly shop and they suggested several flies to try. I went out wading in the river that runs through the city, including Estes Lake but didn't have luck in the lake. We did really well right outside the Estes Park Visitor center. I was learning as I went and still caught fish without a guide. I just found riffles, casted ahead of them and let the fly float through it. Caught several browns and rainbows and surprised myself. Had a blast.

Just wanted to throw that spot out if you didn't want to hire a guide. Literally right behind the Visitor center in an urban area. Lots of room to cast and not hook into trees on the shore.

Edit: Also visit the Patterson glassblowing studio if you're in Estes Park!

OP,

There is someone on here who is local to the CO area, can't remember his name but Hoyt or someone will chime in shortly. I wished we'd used him when we lived there.
