Heading out to Vail next week for a baseball tournament and looking to hit the water during our downtime. Any recommendations for the best local fishing spots or great guides in the area? What you got?

We went through Vail Valley Anglers and have used them 3 times. Always had good success.

Rivers are crazy low this year with the record low snow pack. Probably looking at an early morning trip at best.

A few years ago I used Minturn Anglers located just west of Vail. Had a great time and would use them again.

I used Vail Valley Anglers last summer for me and my 13 year old. Guide was great.

Had a 6-hour float on the eagle river thru vail valley anglers - best float trip I've ever had. Was early June time frame.

Second vote for Minturn Anglers. Have used them twice and they are very knowledgeable about the area.

Our last guide through Minturn has recently gone solo & I follow him on Instagram - he seems to always get people on fish. He calls his little operation On The Water - he will do a great job with instruction and probably be playing Grateful Dead while you're out there. Just got back from Twin Lakes. The rivers/lakes are low, but you still oughta be able to catch some fish.

I would just check the wildfire situation wherever you go. The area north of where we were, Leadville, started evacuating a day or two after we got back.
