A very common circuit for a diode to be in, is a rectifier. A rectifier converts AC to DC.

TexAgs also knows how to pun. I appreciate the nerd puns.

For a good laugh, watch a YouTube video by 'Electro Boom' he sells shirts that say full bridge rectifier and has the schematic as the design.
