I have no idea where to post this so trying here. My daughter will be a freshman and staying at White Creek Apartments on campus. If she has a friend come into town for a football game weekend to stay with her, where would be the best place for that friend to park? They can't park in the lot near the apartments because it requires a permit. The parking garages will be reserved for the game. Are there any pay lots actually available on campus during game weekends? I'm thinking of just telling them to park and leave their car at a nice hotel.

If she's not staying at the hotel, they will have her towed.

She may just have to pay whatever the max is for the Northgate parking garage.

I'd probably park at Jones Crossing in a spot far away from the store and Uber to White Creek.

The friend could leave their car parked on the street in the historic district all weekend

I don't know why it would be, it's a public garage. The rates will probably be higher though.

Is parking allowed in research park (technology loop) on game day?

Campus has several garages. How are they treated on gameday? Just pay as you go?

Most of the garages are reserved for football games. 12th Man sells tickets for those garages.

There are some cash lots on Adriance, Discovery, and at Fan Field in Research Park.

Not unless it's changed.

It's public parking and not owned by TAMU.

Call 862-PARK and ask what they recommend. If the first person you talk to isn't helpful, try back later.

She could leave her car at my place out towards Welborn and have her friend pick her up and drop off for free.

If you park in the Historical Area, you need to park early Friday or even Thurs evening as the streets fill up quick,

Another option would be to park in the middle of the Brookshires parking lot,

I would park in a safe neighborhood and have my friend pick me up and ride along with them for the weekend.

Leaving your car in the lot of a business on a game day is a bad idea.
Brookshire Brothers will tow on a regular day if you use their lot to park and walk to campus.

From the TAMU Website regarding parking info for Gamedays;

Pay upon arrival general parking will be available in limited areas throughout campus for $20 or $25.
Lots are scheduled to open at 7:30am. Gameday shuttles will begin 3 hours pre-game and end 1 hour post-game. Shuttle routes have changed this year but still take fans to Kyle Field and are free. Check this site before each game to get up-to-date information about parking and shuttle availability.

I know a lot of folks that pay the fee when they enter and use the big lot near the Bonfire Memorial lot and then tailgate etc almost all day. The one I'm most familiar with on Agronomy Road that had the for fee parking now has a building starting to go up so that lot is gone. Don't know if they will have others over in that area.

We will figure it out the first week of school. She may have a friend come for the first game and at least 2 more weekends. I bought the guest ticket for her sports pass. My daughter can shuffle her friends around if they have a place to leave their car. I think it will depend on if the friends come Friday or Saturday as far as what will be available. Supposedly White Creek has a pay lot next door. We will check that out first since it would be the most convenient. I'm not so sure it's available on game days though. I think it might be lot Y on game days.

Lot Y is usually a mixed pass/cash lot.

I'm not sure how game weekend or wanting overnight parking affects it, but there are hourly visitor parking spaces at Lot 24 (vet school) and Lot 101 (TIPS), which are across Raymond Stotzer from White Creek Apartments.

Kid has a permit based on license plate, right?
Have her take the front license plate off her car and put it on the back of friend's car. Park in the lot, just not right next to each other.
If you get caught, it's $250 fine. I know the license plate readers make sure the plate is registered to a permit, but not sure if it's smart enough to differentiate between 2 cars with the same plate vs a car that moved to a different spot.

That's a very honest approach.

If you are serious she may take you up on that. I know she has someone coming to the UTSA game for sure Saturday and staying the night. She was going to ask around with some Impact Camp counselors she just made friends with over the weekend.

I would park in a big lot like HEB (not the one walking distance to Kyle) or Walmart and feel fine about it. Just be smart and don't leave it overnight.

If you don't feel great about that, Easterwood is $9/day.

Will A&M tow? Or just write a ticket? If it's just a ticket, there's not really a punishment for not paying if you aren't a student.

They will tow you within 10 seconds of leaving the Century Square property.

I like the Easterwood idea. $9/day for peace of mind of having my car in a safe space is a good idea.

The city doesn't like that. Rules for thee, not for me. Ask the folks on the Southside.
