Yeah, wtf? Are they reducing the number of access points?

It has to happen eventually, and this one appears to be first. I guess it is gone until they build the new in that location when the highway and frontage road is complete.

Permanent ramp closure? wtf?

The current one enters just before midtown drive. In the future, there will be a ramp just after midtown drive.

So what if you are actually on Rock Prairie? You can't go north on 6?

If you are on rock prairie and want to go north, this doesn't effect you because you still have to take the access road north to the on ramp by the car max.

turnarounds at Briarcrest...finally

Yup, but this summer is going to suck. From what I was told, they are demolishing the Briarcrest overpass and rebuilding it this summer. Summer 2027, they are demolishing the William Joel Bryan overpass and rebuilding it.

At least they are doing bridges in the summer.

FYI - northbound traffic is being shifted to the collector distributor lane between Rock Prairie and 2818. Many drivers, not aware of the shift, stayed in the left lane and was forced to exit on Texas Ave. When I went through it last night, the red light at Deacon/Texas had traffic backed up onto 6.

This is poor planning. TxDOT must now keep the Texas Ave traffic flowing by significantly increasing the time the light for Texas Ave stays green at Deacon and Texas Ave. In this case traffic will back up on Deacon and the feeder road. Take home lesson, avoid Texas Ave and Deacon for the foreseeable future if you want to use Deacon or the feeder road.

Yep. And it is scheduled to be this way for the next 6 months. Plan your route accordingly.

If you exit 6 at the southbound Deacon exit and end up next to Burger King and intend to turn left onto Texas at the light, be careful when your arrow turns green. Unless you are in a high pickup, it is impossible to see over the concrete barrier and determine if the cross traffic headed north on business 6 is intending to blow through the red light. Bad situation so use care.

Pretty sure that was the way it was prior to 2009 or so, with the new right lane created by the northbound entrance from Rock Prairie Road.

I have to complement Fluor for the job so far. They seem to have it together and are moving along with purpose. KBTX has done a good job covering it as well. Rusty seems enthusiastic to cover a real news story. But then he gets even more excited when he covers some ProPublica or Texas Tribune story with his lib friends.

I saw two major accidents this past weekend at the Texas exit, where they diverted traffic. That area is dangerous right now. Be careful out there!

It's bad all over. Headed north out of town after 5 the other day and traffic at the light at the Tabor exit was stacked up back to the highway.

Tabor Rd at Hwy 6 is also under construction right now (separate project) and they have the feeder road that leads to the light choked down to one lane right now (instead of 2). It's a cluster, especially when everyone is headed home from work in the evenings.

And the access road north of Rock Prairie with the patched sections is in danger of snapping the axel of my truck. My word it's rough.
