Howdy. I know this is super random.

I work with engineering students and have a team helping manufacturing, construction and mining companies better predict failures in their conveyor belt systems.

Trying to help them network in BCS and find a business who uses conveyor belts that might be a good test environment for them.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks. I'm looking for someone working in one of these businesses that would be willing to meet with some engineering students.

Most of the grocery/retail stores don't use belts but wheeled conveyors.

It's been a long time since Service Merchandise was around.

My half brother works for Vanderlande (Atlanta), but he doesnt have any contracts in BCS. He does occasionally fly into Houston and Dallas for his contracts there. Seems like most places with automation for conveyor belts will be in the larger industrial cities. Maybe you can find whoever has the contract for Easterwood for baggage handling though?

Check with United Tool & Fastener on hwy 30. Their customer base includes manufacturing and this is a common item to sell parts for and they'll know who has them.

They would have absolutely killed it during COVID - They were ahead of their time.

I put my (now) wifes engagement ring on Layaway at Service Merchandise.

FedEx also has a ground warehouse on Hwy 6 north. UPS would be another option.

Lots of industry in the area, here are A few possibilities

Producer's Cooperative (feed, grain, seeds)
Ply Gem (window manufacturer)
Axis Pipe and Tube (pipe mill)
Sanderson Farms (chicken processing)
Mauser Packaging (plastics products)
American Lumbar
Kent Moore Cabinets
VTI of Texas (building products)
Saint Gobain (ceramics manufacturing)
Fujifilm (pharmaceutical)

there are still some coal mines and power plants in the Brazos valley but not exactly close to BCS.
