Howdy Ags,

This is my first post on here. I am a masters student in Mays and have a research project involving campus congestion. The survey is fully confidential and intended solely for use in the project. Please fill this out at your convenience! It'd really help me out.

You did not include Staff as a possible respondent to your survey. You are missing out on a large part of the campus population.

Yeah. Thats thousands of people

This is admittedly an oversight. Added a staff option. I appreciate you checking it out!

Texas A&M has a mechanism for campus wide surveys.
You will reach a broader, more representative audience than that provided by F35.
HOWEVER you must go through an approval process, due to "survey" fatigue.

It may be something you consider.

I had no idea! That'd definitely be the way to go, but we only have about a week to complete sampling. I'll keep this in mind should we have another surveying opportunity come up. Thank you for the link!

I wish we didn't have behavior like that in BCS.

We had behavior like that 30 years ago. Nothing unusual. Not sure if they are even college students. People arrested are from out of town.

Gone fishin' through last weekend. Thursday night was tame. Unfortunate to see that behavior.

Mayors are not allowed to leave.

Did you see what happened in Los Angelas when their mayor left? Half the city burned down.

We didn't have behavior like that 30 years ago on Northgate. And not in summer.

And of course they aren't college students. It's summer. There aren't many in town on a three-day weekend.

The fights at Harry's back in the day were epic

The football team used to get into BRAWLS with the rednecks at Harry's.

I would say the motivation between those events and the one in the video are different.

Maybe not exactly the same but we had fights all the time back then too.

And I saw somebody get stabbed in the late 90s in the chicken. They shut down NG right after. Guy got away. Happened too quickly and he got lost in the crowd.

facebook Post by College Station Police Officers Association

Quote:

How Many Warnings Do We Need?

This weekend's events in Northgate should concern every resident of College Station.

More than a dozen arrests. Fights. Intoxicated drivers. Narcotics offenses. Crowds interfering with police officers attempting to restore order. This isn't the image of our community that most residents want, and it certainly isn't what our officers deserve to face while protecting the public.

Let's be clear: these incidents were not caused by the overwhelming majority of responsible patrons who simply wanted to enjoy a night out. They were caused by individuals who made the choice to engage in criminal behavior and by a bar culture that, at times, seems willing to excuse it as "just another night in Northgate."

It isn't.

Violence is not entertainment. Driving while intoxicated is not a rite of passage. Interfering with police officers is not harmless fun. These actions place lives at risk and create an environment that threatens the safety of everyone presentfrom patrons and employees to first responders.

Our officers will continue doing what they have always done. They will answer the call, run toward the danger, separate the fights, arrest offenders, and work to keep people safe. That commitment has never wavered.

But law enforcement alone cannot solve this problem.

At some point, the community must decide what it wants Northgate to be.

Do we want a destination known for hospitality, entertainment, and responsible nightlife? Or are we willing to accept recurring scenes of violence, disorder, and dangerous behavior as the cost of doing business?

That conversation belongs to all of uscity leaders, business owners, property owners, university stakeholders, residents, and patrons alike.

The College Station Police Officers Association believes our community is capable of better. We believe Northgate can remain a vibrant destination without tolerating the criminal behavior that too often overshadows the many businesses and people who are trying to do things the right way.

The officers who worked this weekend deserve more than our thanks. They deserve a community willing to confront difficult questions and demand better outcomes.

The time for that conversation is now.

Next City of College Station - Government Council Meeting: Thur, 25 June 2026 @ 6:00pm.

I understand that those involved in the criminal behavior may not have been residents of the immediate area. But considering the growing population density of the Northgate area, doesn't it stand to reason that criminal activity will continue to increase?

As long as people not associated at all with being students decide to come to the nightlife spots and act like thugs, there will be problem.

Those aren't the same people that will be populating the high rises in Northgate.
