How uneducated we have become. This is becoming a cruel joke. We pay all these taxes (1 billion dollar bond) and this district is just flat out horrible now (the district is insolvent) and now this.

Let's hear the excuses!!!

"New this school year: Round Rock ISD high schools will no longer be required to administer cumulative final exams, implement finals week schedules, or offer final exam exemptions based on attendance."

Leander hasn't had finals since before COVID.

Also the majority of kids are STAAR and AP Testing the last month of school so it's kind of silly to throw finals on top of that.

Why would you have kids standardized test but not take finals. Standardized test are built for the minimum. How do we get to a point where we're planning education around the minimum? The school districts have zero expectation and that's why a lot of these kids are never going to be better after high school. How's the kid supposed to pass finals in college if he hasn't prepared for finals in high school?

Oh standardized tests are bull**** and mostly pointless. Any kid having to prepare for a standardized test probably won't be attending a 4 year university anyway and that is completely fine. Go learn a trade, don't accumulate a bunch of debt, it's actually pretty fantastic.

The chunk of kids who aren't having to prepare for standardized tests are going to be your kids who are likely taking multiple AP Exams. These are also the kids who are going to be attending 4 year universities. Preparing for and taking multiple AP exams is likely more rigorous than anything they would face in college. Some of these kids are taking 7-8 AP Exams in a 2 week period. So these kids attending 4 year universities will be more than prepared for finals in college.

Those kids are screwed once they are up against their first college finals.
