Still shocks the conscience that Houston had no pro football team from 1996 to 2002.

If American football had a **** it would be in Houston.

Hell you got high schools in Houston with $80 million dollar stadiums.

At the time everybody thought a deal would eventually get done, but it didn't.

And it didn't really sink in until that first year no team and no football at the Dome.

They even jerked people off for a few years with the Tennessee Oilers until they change the name so there wasn't that big of an uproar.

Still one of the biggest failures of all time with respect to the cultural identity and cohesiveness of a city.

The cop cars were Oiler blue. Now they black and whites like every other city.

An unbelievable course of events 30-years on.

Ol Jack Parde just sat there with a stupid look on his face while Buddy Ryan essentially tore that team apart which was talented enough and positioned to win championships.

Sounds like it was limited to the jersey.

Will give him a pass though because we really have no idea what she might've done to deserve it.

He was "chocking" her, according to his attorney.

I was a Houston Oilers fan growing up.

I never got a chance to go to a game at the Dome.

So, for those who were there,

What was the biggest Houston Oiler's home game of all time?
We talking a game won, or simply the most known game of all time.

Because they are two different answers.

To be fair to Pardee, he had absolutely zero say in Buddy Ryan being on the staff. He found out Ryan was hired by Adams while he was on his weekly TV show.

That was the type of asswhole that Adams was - he hired a DC without any input from the head coach and didn't even inform the head coach of his decisions.

Was in a group meeting with a supplier. We were all chatting and were talking about who was from Houston originally. Their older salesman was one of the only ones besides a few of us and talk turned to the old days and the Oilers.

This guy had the audacity to blame Houston and said "Bud Adams never wanted to leave. He took that pain to his grave. I feel bad for him to this day."

I hate Bud just as much as any true Houstonian should, but he was ultimately right in that the Astrodome was no longer a feasible home for his team. Bud's timing and attitude were trash considering he just got the county to cough up millions to remove the exploding scoreboard and add seats and then he is asking the CoH to finance his new stadium right after he does a fire sale on his team and coaching staff. If Bob Lanier wanted any shot of winning re-election he couldn't be seen making deals with Bud. Bud made his bed so I don't feel bad for him or his family one bit.

You would think a guy with that kind of money could get a decent hairpiece.
