Anyone recommend a pool service for the Katy area? Buying a home with a pool and will be a first time pool owner. Know zero about it.

Don't take your water samples to Leslie's. They'll try and sell you a bunch a crap and it never get right. Don't use pool strips either to check chemicals. Not very accurate.

Use liquid chlorine, assuming you have a chlorine pool and not saltwater pool. Mine is chlorine with filters. I don't know anything about saltwater pools

I recommend a DIY approach aided by these tools.

https://waterguru.com/ tests your water everyday if you want to monitor that frequently. In hot months with water above 80 degrees, i test every other day and once a week in months with temp below 80.

Robot takes away some of the daily chore of brushing the pool and cleans up really well. The wind blew a potted plant in the pool and the dirt was cleaned up within hours of the spill.


Get a hot tub bigger than you think you want. Allows you to use pool year round.
