Back in the late 90's when I was a staffer I worked for a manager that was going through a divorce. Around 4:30 each day he'd start talking about 'going out of state'. He'd be looking for any takers for a trip to the good ole' Colorado.

I bet you've never had a better manager in your entire career.

LOL, I did not have the budget for those weekly visits.

But he also used to talk about how great their chicken sandwiches were, so he justified going for lunch and dinner. hilarious. hey, everyone has a divorce coping mechanism.

Lunch special rib eyes.

Either that or the blackened red snapper.

The Friday buffet was the tits as well. They had fried frog legs in that buffet and the carrot cake was outstanding. Nothing like eating frog legs and carrot cake while staring at a magnificent set of swangers on the main stage. Those were the days, those were the days indeed.

Not going to lie - it was a damned good blackened red snapper meal. Snapper, garlic mashed potatoes and sauteed veggies. Ribeye was usually the garlic mashed potatoes and green beans. They had ribye or red snapper and a drink for something like $10. This was back in the early 2000's. They had, at least the rumor was, hired some badass chef away from one of the downtown restaurants and gave him basically free reign to run their kitchen.

We would either go on Thursdays for the ribeye/snapper lunch or Friday's for the all you can eat buffet that had all kinds of good food. $10 for lunch, $5 tip to the waitress, $5 for dancers and if you felt like it maybe a lap dance or two after the meal.

We were kings back then, we just didn't know it.

Man, for the road trips back from seeing family, with 3 kids in the car, I want the fastest route home, so I always put it into waze. More often than not, Don't know if it's weekend construction on BW, or if the time difference is negligible it will default to the no tolls route, but on a Sunday afternoon/evening, it will take us usually around 610 to 59 instead. And I've learned through making errors not to second guess waze when I think I know the route.

Fantasy Plaza North back in 2003-2004..man what a place that was. Used fake IDs we bought from a shady spot on Westheimer. There we were, high school white guys from suburbs, BYOB, full on neked establishment. Times were much simpler!

I think you and I might know each other IRL.

The non-toll route is definitely more direct. It adds 6 extra miles to take the beltway around. So unless there is a significant slowdown through downtown (which there can be and will be once the decade long construction project ramps up), it will almost always be faster to stay on 59 than to hop on the beltway.

The Colorado used to not have to compete against Chicas Locas. They may find out the market has changed and they will need to adapt.

I hear they're going to have a deal with Mike Tyson where the chef will cook a lasagna and then iron Mike will come punch it.

man, I always took 8 around from SL to 45 North back when I lived out there, unless I was driving at a very odd time (like very early morning). Seemed faster to go around.... maybe I was just wrong!
