Several hound species are prone to these non-cancerous growths on their heads as they get older. Our old girl has one that she cannot stop scratching with her paw, causing it to bleed and get infected over and over again. It produces one of the worst smells I think I've ever been around.
The normal vet wants $800 bones to put her under and take it off surgically. The money is an issue as is the dog's age (at least 12) so looking for an alternative. Am calling around a lot tomorrow to see if I can find one, but any recs early on would be appreciated.
