Anyone ever had plumbing under their house redone? We live in a 60 yo home on west side of town and I have no clue who does that stuff. I've seen it done but wondering if anyone has recs or would mind sharing ballpark costs?

I'm sure it depends on number of drains/toilets and several other factors.

Appreciate the feedback.

I have, but I did it myself.

It will depend on a variety of factors, including how many appliances are connected, how big the house is (i.e. how far the pipes have to run), what material you want (PVC, PEX, galvanized, etc.), and how much space the plumber has to work in under the house.

ETA: Or did you mean sanitary sewer plumbing under a slab?

We had roots in our pipes under the house. This guy had his crew in and out in 2 days, did a good job and took a bunch of pictures of the work. Have had him do a couple other jobs for us, would recommend. We're in Memorial area. Digging under the house and getting it done was ~3k about 3 years ago I think (don't recall exactly)

Yes, sanitary sewer plumbing under slab not inside plumbing. We've done that already

Did they repair landscaping after the job? Just wondering if I need to factor that into my labor or not. I can hand it just trying to get a handle on before/after work.

Filled the hole with the dirt that was removed, there was a noticeable patch where the work was done. It was on the side of the house out of sight, so it didn't bother me much & grass has recovered since then. I'm sure if I would have asked him, he would have done more - he's a reasonable guy and will work with you

that sounds very cheap, unless this was a small job. How much of the plumbing was replaced?

You could be right - I don't remember exactly, could very well have been more but it wasn't out of line with some other quotes that I had at the time. The pipe was under a toilet next to an exterior wall and close to the sewer line, I think less than 10 linear ft of pipe was replaced. He also took out any roots that they could find while digging

Thanks for the feedback. I'm looking at doing the whole house so I'm sure it won't be cheap. 3 toilets, 4 sinks drains, 2 shower drains. All but 1 ****ter/sink are along exterior walls or close. Half bath is damn near center which will be a problem.

yeah, you're going to end up paying a lot for that amount of tunneling. Not fun work. I would think $20K+ in all likelihood.

Have you had the foundation checked at well? If it needs repair, this would be the time to do both. You don't want to spend a bunch of money on plumbing only to have a cracked slab screw up the alignment on the new job a few years down the road.

Not since we bought the place 16+ years ago but that's part of the plan as well.

I'll take recommendations for both jobs if anyone has them.

Their proximity to the exterior won't matter much except for the fact that they'll be able to start their tunnel(s) there. Unless you're planning to re-route all your sanitary lines around the exterior footprint of your house, those lines that start near an exterior wall run towards the center of the house where they come together and go out the single main to the front or back of your house, depending where your neighborhood sanitary mains run.

We'd be happy to come look at it, if you're needing a professional opinion! Estimates can vary wildly depending on a lot of factors. AmericanPlumbingCompany.net

When my parents got their foundation fixed, they created a toilet/sewer line issue. The rate was about $1k per 3 feet for underground digging (plumbing and foundation).

That was pre-COVID, so might be different. But can use that price.
