Good evening all....

In a few weeks I'll be in Amarillo for work, staying downtown, and am wondering if I could get some recommendations for breweries and food.

Arevthe breweries walkable from downtown?
How is the uber situation?

This is my first time not just driving through.

Thanks for any input.

The only brewery that is in downtown is 6 Car. It's a fun place to go and drink a few beers. Their food is decent too.

You also ought to go to the speakeasy at the Barfield. It was in the last season of Yellowstone.

For a fancy meal, the best place to eat in my opinion would have to be OHMS. Crush is pretty good too.

Furbies has good burgers.

I've only Ubered once in Amarillo and it was like getting an Uber in any other city.

My perception is that downtown is pretty safe. Lots of recent development, so I think the city is doing all they can to keep it safe.

Wish I had more recs, the one time I've been to downtown lately has been to Six Car. Pretty cool place, they have an outdoor patio on the third floor, if the weather is good.

Most of what I know is museums and tourist places

Also, if you've never been, try to set aside at least 3 hours and drive out to Palo Duro Canyon. Sunset is about 8:30 this time of year, so get there about five, do the auto tour, watch the sunset, if you have lots of time, stay and watch the stars come out. It's not true dark skies, but about as good as you can get around here

Perfect. I'll try to make time for that.

My wife and I spend a lot of time in downtown. You will occasionally encounter a homeless person, but we have never felt unsafe in the part where the hotels and restaurants are.

Rain has good sushi.
Crush is a wine bar with a good menu.
Braceros has good Mexican food and margaritas.
Six car for burgers and beers.

The barfield has a nice steakhouse in it, and the speakeasy seen in Yellowstone downstairs.

There is also a very nice minor league baseball stadium that is a great place to catch a game.

The only weird thing I've had happen to me in downtown was walking out of the Embassy Suites bar and seeing a homeless guy jerking off while looking through the window at the women sitting at the bar.

I guess I'm just used to seeing this by now..... If this is the worst, I'll be very happy.

Downtown Amarillo Pro-Tip
1- don't go north of 4th street
2- leave Chesney's at midnight

Other than that you'll enjoy yourself, Mondays can be tough as several of the restaurants are closed. But otherwise we have business guests downtown on a regular basis and never have any problems. Stay at the Barfield, great steakhouse that is open late, or embassy for a decent happy hour and breakfast buffet.

Jumping in here to ask for some hotel recommendations around HODGETOWN. I assume anything near the ballpark is good?

Our family will be driving through on a road trip in the next few weeks and are planning to see a Sod Poodles game and stay the night.

Thanks!

The embassy is across the street from the stadium. The courtyard and the Barfield are about 4 or 5 blocks away but an easy walk.

Get tickets on the 3rd base side…

Thanks. That Embassy Suites is what I booked.
Thanks for the game advice too. That was going to be the next thing I looked up.

Appreciate it!
