We'll be in Rockport at the end of July celebrating our Mom's 90th bday I'm looking for some great seafood with possible outdoor seating ( I know its hot) and a good bakery to order a cake - Italian Creme is the first choice

No recommendations at all?

We've only frequented Rockport Bakery on 35. I can't vouch for their cakes, but they have good breakfast tacos and my wife likes their donuts.

IMO, the two best seafood places in Rockport are Key Allegro Yacht Club which does you no good since it's members only....and Latitude is good with cool art but no outdoor.

Other options:

• Glow. Small, boutique place. Good last time we ate there but was Several years ago.
• Charlotte Plummers. Decent but not great food.
• Moondogs is on water but is more of a bar/restaurant.
• Paradise Key: raucous tourist place.

The Glow is now Gabriella's and is not open yet. I've heard Pier 77 is pretty good, but I haven't tried it.

YouBet covered the go-to spots. Don't forget HEB as a bakery option, we've gotten their cakes in a pinch and have enjoyed them.

@Sugarsfromlala (instagram) Laura Covarrubias is a great baker in Rockport. Makes custom cakes for my kids when we are in Rockport for Bdays Holidays etc...very affordable as well.

Peir 77 is pretty good...portions are huge. I think its cash only...and no outdoor seating

Crab N is not too far from RPT, 495 Chesapeake Eats and Wild Prawn are also good restaurants but do not have outdoor seating.

Shempy's between Rockport and AP is a dump. But the food, especially fried Oysters were great. They are having trouble finding help and close at odd hours.

One other potential option but I can't vouch for it is the Palm Room Grill at the Lighthouse Inn. Not sure if they have outdoor seating, but I think the restaurant does face the bay. They have "terrace" seating so maybe?

I just don't hear much about it and we've never eaten there.

I'm staying for the weekend in rockport coming up. Has anything changed as far as the recs go? We will be cooking mostly so will be hitting up the grocery store but will at least want tacos for breakfast one morning and maybe seafood or burgers for dinner or lunch one day.

We are wanting to play tennis, looked like there was a high school with tennis courts open to the public online. Is that true? Also gonna hit the beach, how is it right now? And is goose island worth checking out? Looks pretty cool from the pics on the internet.
I grew up going to port an and have never been to rockport (as you might have guessed), so sorry for all the questions.

Here this morning. Got in last night and had dinner at the Old FultonSeafood Cafe. Was very good.

In Rockport now. Best breakfast tacos I've had down here are in Aransas Pass at Taco De Oro.

Sorry for the delay. I think it was called Vallarta? Pretty good, and the crowd was all local which tells you something. I will go back for sure.

As you know, they roll up the streets on Sunday evening in Rockport and some closed entirely on Monday. So Monday evening we went to Mickeys in ARANSAS Pass. Great food and ate right where they were bringing in fish. I had fried flounder and shrimp platter- best flounder I have had in long time.
Next night went to Pier 77. I had Cajun shrimp appetizer and salad and wife had coconut and regular fried shrimp - all amazing good. We could have split her shrimp platter! Only thing, they take cash and their ATM was broke, so I couldn't leave as much tip as I wanted!

Thought I would add to this thread now that we've been here full time for almost 2 years:

- Copano's is damn good and I would include in the top 3 restaurants with KAYC and Latitude. They have a great bourbon selection relatively speaking and make a great Old Fashioned.
- Cheryl's in Fulton is a really cool place. Very local to the point Cheryl may give you **** if you are not. We've only eaten there once but it's really good.
- Coasters in Aransas Pass is damn good as well. Outdoor seating only but covered.

So our top 5 is probably the three above plus KAYC and Latitude. We've also just joined Rockport Country Club. Have eaten there twice - breakfast was fine. Our dinner the first time there was badass. Was actually surprised at how good it was.

Sugar shack in Fulton was an absolute madhouse on a Sunday last night.

Is there any sort of Fulton vs Rockport divide that exists or do the two towns sort of just come into each other as one big community?
Staying in Fulton this time and it seems slightly nicer if anything. Is it more touristy over here than Rockport (I know we are talking about a difference in miles)

The smokeshack here in Fulton has Frito pie with brisket that is absolutely outstanding. 2nd time visiting the Rockport area (I grew up always going to port a) and 2nd time I had to order it again.
