Long overdue post. I loaded the family in the 200 last September and we headed to Ouray for a week. It was a mix of modest trails to scenic areas, short hikes, scenic drives, and tourist attractions focusing on the kids enjoying their first family vacation. It was a lot of work getting 3 kids under 5 to another state and parenting them for a week but it was a very memorable trip. We did several short hikes right around Ouray as well as Box Canyon Falls, some of Mears Trail, went to Telluride via Last Dollar, as well as plenty of stops along the trails we drove.

We had plenty of truck stop tailgate poop breaks and diaper changes between home and Ouray. My youngest also got carsick on 550 just north of Silverton and vomited all over my oldest on the way there. Other than that, the trip there and back was just fine.

Lots of tailgate picnics.

Crawling around this old mine on Red Mountain.

The fall color was setting in during our stay and probably peaked a week or so after we got home. Next trip will be the last week of September and/or first week of October.

We found a random shelter in the woods off 550 and stopped and let the boys remodel it and play in the woods a couple times.

Nothing technical but not for wives that don't like exposure.

At the end of Porphyry Gulch, we packed lunches and made the short hike up to Bullion King Lake at 12,560'.

My oldest on the Ouray park playground bench right before he asked me if we can live here forever.

The 200 was really an amazing vehicle for this trip. We surprisingly fit everything in the truck and I didn't need my pakmule or roof space. It helped that we stayed in an airbnb rather than doing any camping though. I have made this same drive twice in my 60 solo, and I can't image doing this same trip with my family in that truck. The 200 is not nostalgic but it is better in every way for a trip like this.

On the trip home I saw these 70s in NM. I assume some sort of military training equipment.
