Three abreast in the leftmost lanes just after the expansion from 2 lanes to 3 lanes….not saying the white truck guy was right, but I understand. Nothing worse than doing 35 or 45 in a 65 at 362 (because Bucc-ees!), only to have the lead left lane a-hole from the 2 lane stay in the far left when it splits into 3 lanes and proceed to pace traffic on the right at a brisk 55. No reason to be a left laner when you're pulling a trailer.
You don't consider the left lane losers, rubber neckers, and phone texters totally selfish and asinine? Those folks need to drive a consistent speed appropriate for the conditions, stay out of the left lane unless passing, and if having to enter the left lane, get up to speed first so you can pass and move back over. It's super simple.MouthBQ98 said:
I see a-holes driving like that on the regular. No signal, sudden lane changes, following way too close, separations as if they were on an oval track race. Totally selfish and asinine driving.
Get your lazy F'n ass up earlier if you need to get somewhere on time, or plan your drive better. A 3/4 ton truck is not an F1 car.
I was almost caught in a similar type of wreck Tuesday a eeek ago, a little rain storm went through and I was slowing down due to water on the highway and at the last second I caught some jackass coming up behind in merging traffic drivibg ad of it was dry and no traffic, and yet to swerve through the cars slowing due to the wet conditions. Idiot Side swiped a truck just behind me, flew right past me and cut me off, but I was already going slower so I was able to avoid them, then they rear ended the car in front of me after not being able to stop, and then cut back across in front of me just missing me a second time.
Looks like there was someone in front of him hogging theQuote:

But he didn't stop to give the cops/driver the footage.MyMamaSaid said:
Kudos to the guy having a dash camera!
This times eleventy billion. Left lane losers are the worst but that is no reason to drive like an ID10T and cause an accident.scd88 said:Prune Tracy said:

Found the guy driving the white truck.
esp pick up drivers in TX...they're always the most courteous and polite drivers on the road...BrazosDog02 said:

I miss the old days of Highway 6 being two lanes between Hearne and Marlin and the Texas Courtesy Shoulder Pass.agracer said:esp pick up drivers in TX...they're always the most courteous and polite drivers on the road...BrazosDog02 said:

I-40 heading to Albuquerque....all the big rigs in the left lane going 60.1, who are passing the line of 12 big rigs in the right lane who are going 60.Quote:
The major problem on 290 outbound from Houston is all the damn big rigs in the left lane.

I don't have a problem at being angry with left lane campers, but that also no justification for risking the property and lives of other people by road rage weaving in traffic like a jackass. One is really annoying, the other is life threatening and raises all of our insurance rates.
This. Not keeping the passing lane open for passing forces all the passing traffic to filter through slower moving traffic in the right lanes, causing repeated conflicts. The biggest cause of accidents on Houston highways are left lane campers and it isn't close.Scruffy said:MouthBQ98 said:

You're wrong.
Campers need to die a painful death.
They make the road more dangerous due to not opening space for others to get around.
I dislike left side campers plenty, but you're wrong.txags92 said:This. The cause of accidents is self entitled folks that can't manage their sense of self entitlement at the slightest inconvenience.
If there was nobody illegally camping in the left lane, those law abiding drivers who just want to pass slower moving traffic wouldn't be put in the position of their "slightly inconvenienced self entitlement" being forced to weave through traffic. The root cause of any subsequent accident is the illegal action of camping in the left lane. Anything after that root cause is just supplemental to what caused the problem to begin with.Kenneth_2003 said:I dislike left side campers plenty, but you're wrong.txags92 said:This. You do you. Camping in the left lane is against the law.Silvy said:
What the absolute **** did you just do, you slow-driving, left-lane-hogging piece of human garbage? I'll have you know l'm a gotdam road warrior, trained in high-speed tactical driving and certified in flipping off morons in 47 states. l've racked up 300,000 miles on my odometer, smoked out 600 tailgaters, and left tire marks on highways you couldn't even dream of navigating. You think you can just cruise at 65 in the PASSING LANE like some kind of asphalt dictator? I've seen roadkill with more situational awareness than you, you brain-dead, turn-signal-ignoring ****wit. I'm not just a driver, I'm a ****ing force of nature behind the wheel. I'll tailgate you so close you'll feel my headlights in your soul, and when you finally crawl over to the right lane, I'll blast past you with a honk so loud it'll make your ancestors piss themselves. You're not just holding up traffic, you're waging war on efficiency, and I'm the ******* Navy SEAL of the interstate, ready to take you out with precision rage. l've got a dashboard cam, a radar detector, and a playlist of death metal so aggressive it could peel paint off a semi. You're out here driving like you're delivering a eulogy, and I'm ready to make your rearview mirror a portal to hell. You think you're safe in that Prius, minivan, or whatever sad excuse for a vehicle you're dragging along at a snail's pace? I've smoked Corvettes, outmaneuvered cops, and drifted through rush hour like it's a ******* ballet. I'll find you, you oblivious roadblock, and when I do, l'll flash my high beams so hard you'll think you're in a ****ing alien invasion. You've got exactly three seconds to move over before l unleash the full fury of my horn, my middle finger, and a verbal tirade that'll make your grandma clutch her pearls. Get the **** out of the passing lane, or I'll make sure your license plate is etched into the annals of highway shame forever, you speed-limit-desecrating, lane-clogging COWARD.
Usually in Houston they are either reading their phone and oblivious to the traffic around (or stacked up behind) them, or talking on the phone with it on speaker while holding it horizontally 3" from their mouth.MouthBQ98 said:
It's my observation that they are often passing people on their right, just a lot more sedately and less aggressively than the behind the wheel sociopaths coming up from behind want them to be. If they're passing someone to their right, even slowly, they're entirely legal. If they are pacing the flow of traffic AND traffic conditions allow for passing, then they're breaking the law, but the left lane isn't a private lane for speeders either. I see lots of abuse of this also.
Don't take what I am saying the wrong way. There is still no excuse to go full ******* like the white truck in the video did. That guy clearly was the direct cause of the collisions in the video. But the "root cause" is a safety term that strips away all of the human actions and "this guy was just an idiot" level causes and looks for what was the initiating action that led to the whole cascade of things that caused the accident. If the other drivers saw the raging idiot coming up behind them and got out of the left lane to let him pass, none of the rest of it happens. But in Houston, driving is a competitive sport and people are far more likely to see the raging idiot come up behind them trying to pass and speed up just enough to keep him from having a lane to pass them to "teach him a lesson about patience" or whatever. When dealing with idiots, eventually you are going to cause a rage monkey to go off like this when doing that.Complete Idiot said:
It's really amazing to me anyone can watch the video in the OP, including the rear view, and choose to go after anything other than the white pickup driver. Like, almost mind boggling.
And I'm someone who has some anger/control issues regarding oblivious drivers and who likes to drive above the speed limit. I will pass on the right if safe and open, would never come close to doing what that white pick was doing - again, not just the ending, he comes in super hot from way back in the rear view. We know what happened here yet still want to talk about possible left lane squatting?
